M Tune and Linsey Racing 4” exhaust - thoughts?
I am considering getting an M Tune kit and a 4” exhaust from Lindsey Racing. I am looking for some bolt on performance improvements and was wondering what the thoughts are on combing these two items (and not really much beyond these items).

Is your engine a 3.0L?
I have both 3 inch and 5 inch for my 3.0L
If you have a 2.5L I would stick with 3 inch unless you plan on swapping to a larger engine down the road with a ton of mods
I also have the M-tune and ran with the 3 inch exhaust. Have to sort out some bugs with the Rogue DME board.
Using a borrowed stock DME with M-tune the car ran great.

Yeah.
I had a 3" LR system on my previous 951. Going 4" is useless unless your thinking over 400whp.
To the OP. I had an older 3 inch LR cat bypass and cat back. I personally wouldn't purchase it again. Had some fitment issues with clearing the rear m030 sway-bar and also had a band break. The system hangs low at one point and fitment wasn't precise like a factory system. They may or may not have improved over the years. Not sure.
Problem is not having to many options these days and there system is probably the cheapest. Which is attractive.
I decided to called Tim from SFR and he is building me a cat bypass for my current car. Pricey but, I think Tim's work is worth the extra premium.
As far as The MAF. I use VR exclusively and I used him again. I can not comment on the M-tune as I have no experience with it. Support though, seems to be an issue judging from what I've read on the forum.

Go with SFR exhaust. I had a full 3" including downpipe from Tim and it was a perfect fit and high quality. What's nice about the SFR exhaust is they have testpipe/resonator/hi flow cat attachments.

I have a stock ‘89 turbo. What do you mean the turbo will disappear with the 4” pipe?
I am considering the 4” pipe as it leaves room if I want to do more in the future and seems like the more attractive resell option if I decide to go back to stock. My goal is not to waste money though.

3" should support any realistically usable amount of power you could dream of.
data point, the Dodge Hellcat motors make 700-750hp crank with dual 2.75" pipes, multiple cats, and mufflers.

Any thoughts on wether a 3" or 4" would be easier to sell down the road if I go back to stock? Looks like about a $200 difference new.
Also, I haven't searched the forums yet, but any opinions on which was to go regarding Mangaflow vs Borla muffler?

From the maintenance and modification sticky:
...The size most people would recommend is 3”. 4” is not really needed until you're making 450+whp, 3” is still big enough to support that power.
I know I've read somewhere that even the stock exhaust, maybe with a cat bypass, is usable to 350hp. My goal right now with my car is around 300whp, but a larger exhaust is not part of that equation until I confirm it's needed.

M-Tune used to be amazing... I still have my C-Tune chipset and was the best choice I ever made performance wise. With that said I am not sure how involved Josh is anymore so I would look at recent reviews to make sure it’s still as top notch. Vitesse is another good option. But for me I would do VEMS if not the M-Tune.
4” exhaust is a bit over kill, unless you know you are planning a 2.85-3.0l+ I would stick with the 3”. Save the extra money and put it towards a 3” downpipe or tial wastegate these are more benefical. Anything near or over 400whp you have a lot more concerns than exhaust size to keep it running well. I’ve seen a lot of people having issues at the 325-350whp mark without going down the path of more extensive builds.
But thats my .02... set your power goals from the beginning and plan accordingly. It will be wiser in the long run and make sure to get your maintenance up to date before going to far in the rabbit hole.

I had Garrett turbo built for this car. The K series was not good enough for our build. I have a few of the K turbos laying around. And for the twin turbo guys, I have the rare E Pipe off my 996 turbo next to the extra turbos. Actually, I have a shed full of parts.

For quality exhaust system that will hold value for resale later, go with SFR ( www.speedforceracing.com ) or Fabspeed ( www.fabspeed.com ). Both are stainless steel and fit like factory. Though wait time on SFR might be long, it will definitely be worth it. If youre already looking at a MTune, you should consider VEMS standalone ECU, https://www.pnpecu.com/vems-porsche-...50-hp-68-p.asp ( almost same price as MTune ) but with all the flexibility and options ( wasted spark ignition, etc. ) or a tried and reliable MAF solution, Vitesse Racing MAF system ( www.vitesseracing.com ). There are a few here who have the updated M-Tune from Lindsey Racing and are having particular issues from what Ive been reading on forums. Customer support is second to none with John at Vitesse Racing and there are many here, including myself with back up.
