Tom -
put a full 944 driveline under a Bug body.
wheelbase is the same and the floorpan isn't all that different...hell, the rear suspension is already 944-spec after '68

Friend of min is building a Volvo PV with the full 951 suspension/brakes, torque tube and gearbox. LS engine though in that build. Very cool car.
