I have a 1987 944 Turbo. When I try to start it it will turn over and over but never start. I have put a new fuel pump on it and also a DME relay. And it still won't start. What should I try next

Start with searching here for no start. Lots of info out there. Does the tach bounce? How did the problem start? Have you checked for fuel and spark?

Do you have good fuel in the tank?

This car has never given me any problems until now. One day it started to miss at idle like I was running out of gas. Then I was trying to get it home and it got worse it barely made it home. It died as I pulled in the driveway and I coasted in. I thought that I had run out of gas so I went and got some in a jug. It started up immediately and I let it run for about 30 seconds and I thought it was okay. A week later I tried to start it up and it just turns over and over and does not crank.

Air flow meter (stock barn door style) vs mass air flow meter (free air flow using a hotwire to meter the air not a barn door).

Are you getting spark at the plugs? You can test it with plug wires pulled from the plug and use a screw driver close to the plug wire and see if there a spark while car is turning over. If so, that wire is giving spark. Do this with each plug wire. If all of the wires have no spark, it’s your rotor cover or coil ignitor. Also inspect your plugs.

it can also be your speed and crank sensor. When that is bad, you will get no engine start

lastly, it can be your starter. Hit the starter relay with a hammer. If it starts, then that is your problem,

It means that it’s probably not your speed and ref sensors. Check fuel pressure, flow, and spark. Not at the same time.
