Default Porsche 944 Turbo restomod

Hello,

I'm back!

Nine years ago I decided to do some body work on my '87 Porsche 944 Turbo. The rocker panels where showing some rust. Next week I will receive my car back from the paint shop. Yes, I know. It took some time.

Next step is to start building up the car and deciding which engine to put into it. I am leaning towards a LS3 376/430, but a 3.0 Turbo or a TT RS (2.5 CEPA) is also an option.

The 5R transmission has been fully rebuild with the .83 fifth gear replaced with a .73. The torque tube has been rebuild with super bearings. The rear axle has been rebuild with polybronze bearings.

Because we all love pictures:

Are you looking to go 200 MPH/321 KPH? Consider doing more body work and taking it to a wind tunnel if you plan to go above 180 MPH/290 KPH. Looks very nice. Super job.

Very very nice.

White is my favorite on a 944.

Not pretending to be anything, it just is.

I especially like that last shot, tub sitting on roller.

Is the car factory sunroof delete or did you have it converted...?

The car did not come with a sunroof. So nothing has been deleted on the roof part.

@Humboldtgrin: I would like to be able to reach the 300 km/u (=186.4 mph).

You should really consider cleaning that thing up a bit before putting it back together....

Have you considered the 1.8 turbo conversion. That seems to be the newest craze. I prefer the 3.0 turbo personally. Just tossing the other out as a possibility, the motor werks stage 3 is touted at over 500 hp

I have considered the 1.8 motor werks engine, but somehow they seem incapable of responding to my e-mails.
I don't expect the 1.8 Turbo to have any power below 4000 rpm and that's a problem for me.
