But if you go to Delaware Porsche Parts the price is lower than Byers, $2587.

The best picture I have is below. However, I suspect I will be able to make a very clear picture in the very near future while solving the clutch problem.

How will you be controlling boost? The intake routing looks factory, but I'm assuming you'll be using an electronic boost controller? I'm in the process of installing a stealth MAF with electronic booster controller, and I'm trying to figure out vacuum routing. I may run both of the small hoses (from intercooler and J-boot) through the metal tubes and cap off the one from J-boot at the rear.

Here is an image from a recent turbo build that shows what the typical relationship of the timing belt and waterpump should be.

I have a EBC which is controlled by the AugTronic ECU. The wastegate is a Tial.
The cyclic valve is gone and the three hoses going to the cyclic valve are connected to the EBC.

I actually did go through the parts catalogue page by page several times. Very helpful are pictures on the internet. That’s one of the reason I try to post a lot of pictures. Some brackets are not exactly In the factory location, because I like them better elsewhere. I am amazed at how much parts still are available from Porsche.

The verdict is out! I have failed.
The snap ring wasn't seated properly. The t/o bearing was pushed out of the pressure plate.
I think this is a reason the poor myself a very big glass of tonic and gin.

This might make you feel better.

Completed engine out reseal job of my ‘86 NA. Went to start car and starter made a racket but started the car. Engine was purring perfectly. Looked underneath and noticed steady drops of oil. After investigating I determined I must not have installed the main rear seal properly. After a few days and lots of cursing, I dropped the trans and moved torque tub back, took bell housing off and flywheel off and sure enough main seal was not in properly.

I remembered the racket when starting the car so I got a used starter and put everything back together. Went to start the car and same racket from starter. Engine ran though and no leaks hooray. Stared investigating starter noise. Long story short, I realized I had used my 951 bell housing I had laying around instead of the NA bell housing. They are not the same, which I did not know. Haven’t mustered the energy yet to drop the trans again.

I went straight for whisky.

Several posts about it on Rennlist. My understanding is the the 951 flywheel and clutch assembly is larger so Porsche made slight changes to the starter location. As a result, the teeth don’t line up correctly between the starter and starter ring, thus the grinding loud noises when starting the engine.

But if someone knows a trick please let me know.

SIngle malt scotch, something smooth like Balvenie or Macallan, or if you are lucky, Sullivans Cove.
