Black Bart, my 1990 S2 Cab had a squeak in the drivers side rear wheel. While trying to figure out what the problem has I had to remove the caliper and rotor.

The stainless plates that position the brake pads been pushed out by years of abuse and the POSPO had used some type of locking compound on them when the pads where replace at some point in time requiring that we use extreme measures to get them out, possible damaging the seals. I also noticed that the powder coating was starting to peel and needs to be redone. I am looking for some rebuild kits for the four piston calipers, but can seem to find any listed from various suppliers. Does anyone know of a source for rebuild kits for these calipers?

BTW, the squeak was a result of the small spring that holds the parking brake shoe to the backing plate breaking and the shoe has rubbing on the rotor.

Thanks,

Tom Cooper

I just picked up a 1990 944S2 cab last Saturday and am happy to now be part of the Porsche experience. The intent is to fix up the car in the next 28 months to become my daily driver as I will be turning my truck over to my daughter when she gets her license.

I am so happy I found this thread and all the information contained within it and rennlist.

Hi rob, welcome!

How about some pictures of your new baby.

Any questions ask away here. Also if not cab specific you are better off to ask in the general 924/944/951/968 area as there is allot more traffic that will see it.

Just finished up installing Lindsey Vacuum Lines. Nice clean look and can eliminate the possibility of vacuum leaks for a while.

Do you have pictures?
How long/hard was it to do?
What kit did you order?
Cost?

Thanks
Mark

Not hard to do at all. There are a ton of threads on this topic with routing diagrams. I took one off at a time, measured it up to the new line and put it in. I would say it was probably less then an hour to complete.
I went with the Lindsey Kit (http://www.lindseyracing.com) which is $33 and includes the metal Ts.
I'll see if I can get a picture up this weekend.

I'm still learning about this car as I might pick one up this weekend so sorry for the noob questions...

Is this a 944 with a 968 rear bumper?
Are the side skirts also from a 968 or custom?

Exactly. Its a 944 S2 cab, IIRC, with a 968 bumper and rockers. Its one of the nicest 944s I've seen

Default cabriolet top install

Just scored a MINT oem top. Still on the frame with the rubber seals and rear window in great shape
Does anyone have experience in taking a cab top off and re-installing? What should I look out for?
Although my motors work fine I think I'll leave disconnected and operate the top manually.

Good Find from what I have read the installation is not very hard but takes time and is a bit tricky when gluing the back. I think I once read a DIY somewhere although not sure where.

Are your old seals any good. I need the vertical seals for both sides (inner and outer) but especially need the passenger side. I would take any or all that you are willing to sell if available.

Mark,
Unfortunately my vertical seals are shot. I wish some aftermarket company would start making them for cheap!

Define shot. Mine is missing about an inch at the bottom. Wonder if yours had a usable inch or 2 if gluing 2 together could work?
