I don't know the angle but the wind screen on the cab is 60mm, 2.4 inches lower than the coupe. I have an autopower roll bar and would recommend it. It is bolt in but it is not that simple to put in and remove and you have to cut. I have seen some that just hook into the seat belt bolt. They look good but I wouldn't trust it in an actual roll over nor would I think it would pass a tech inspection.

Changed the oil, washed it..and.

Drove it in the California Festival of Speed in Fontana at the Autoclub Speedway. We did 8 escorted laps during the lunch break. cost was $20. Put the top down and had a blast. Best $20 spent on it this year so far....

Hi Guys,
New to the forum. Currently running a 1989 2.7 944 which will be replaced soon with a 1990 S2 cab. Nice to see some great looking cars, can't wait to get mine. Its having a new roof put on. One question, do you guys see a need for a wind deflector or is the air flow pretty good (mainly in cooler months). Will put some pics on when I get the car.

I have been running without a wind deflector and don't see a huge problem. I guess that if you were going on long high speed trips it is a nice to have but overall I find it good without it.

Enjoy the cab great car!

I have taken several nice long trips in mine and do not feel the need for a wind deflector. On day was a bit cool and put up the windows and added a little heat and was very comfortable

scnell, or spelt something like that, only been in a short while, but went straight in after taking off the large rear muffler otherwise it would be hard to get in there. No mods needed.

tomv944 and Mike3 thanks for the info. I'm still waiting for the new top to come from the States before I can pick the car up in Melbourne. And then its a 750km drive back to Adelaide, hopefully with top down. Can't wait.

Thumbs up

I like this thread. I have not done much to mine yet 1990 90000+ miles
I did upgrade the stereo blaupunk Hamburg 57. I plan to repaint (rock chips ) and replace my top crack in window and a mouse whole last winter brefore I got the new garge sealed up. I must say what some of you have done gives me ideas.

the link shows the other 2 cabs I know of in the Omaha area.
http://gpl.pca.org/skooner/07-09.pdf this is the july 2009 news letter my car is on the left. there are 2 968 cabs in the area one in Iowa south of me and one over in Omaha that was at the same gathering.

Maybe this thread wasn't intended for this, so I apologize in advance if this is misplaced. I bought a 1990 black on black 944 Cab last year and am finally getting around to the one thing I can't live without in this thing, a stereo! The stereo that was in it didn't work so I have drove it sans music for quite some time. With my 86 Turbo that wouldn't have been a problem since I never seemed to get sick of that sound :-)

My question is what have you all put in for speakers? And what kind of luck have you had with installs? It is very difficult to find details with the Cabs when it comes to speakers. I am looking to just put in speakers that fit with little to no difficulty, although I am up for modding the doors/rear side panels if someone were to convince me its worth it, considering how noisy the car is anyway the sound quality won't come through the same as it would in a coupe. With that said, I want to put in the best speakers I can find that will fit. Unfortunately due to the size (4x6 euro) it seems hard to find high high quality speakers. I intend on running with a great amplifier at some point, but thats kind of irrelevant to the speaker question. So far in the front I am almost sold on the Infinity 4629CFP 4x6 plate speakers. They are only $78 for the pair which makes me skeptical, but they seem to be the only bolt in replacements that get good reviews.

Any advice or experience installing speakers in Cabs would be MOST appreciated! Thanks!

BTW, great to see these other Cabs! I have never seen another one in person here in Minnesota (probably because convertibles and Minnesota don't typically work well together :-)
