Looks like a fantastic day, beautiful company, awesome car.
What kind of comments did you get on #1?
It was a great day and a nice event was put on by Porsche Warwick. There was the usual turnout of 21st century customer cars, the dealership's new offerings plus a fair number of vintage cars 1950s to 1990s drove in. We had the only 928 aside from one on a lift in the service shop...can't imagine how that ended up in there. The real treat was several Porsches from Audrain Auto Museum in Newport. http://audrainautomuseum.org/ Serious stuff.. a 918, Carrera GT, a new 911R a '73 RSR, and a lot more stuff you rarely get up close to.
The #1 gets some interesting attention in this type of environment. A lot of contemporary Porsche customers walk right by it and most of the other older cars... and mine is not shiny so it even gets some "WTF is this doing here?" looks. There's a lot of 928 fans out there now so there were a fair amount of admirers . For some, once they start reading the info board they end up hanging around the car for a half an hour really staring it down, these folks are fascinated and full of questions and they make the whole thing worth it for us. There seems to be about a 50/50 split between "restore it" and "leave it like it is" which is a discussion we never tire of.
There were a few Porsche sales guys at the dealership that have been around for many years and they tend to have the best 928 stories and memories of selling them back in the day. These older sales guys really appreciated #1 and had some real insight into just how out of this world the first 928s were when they arrived in the late 1970s. They report that the cars were very amazing in the context of other offerings by Porsche at the time, but that did not necessarily translate into sales. The pasha seats were polarizing and many buyers did not want them. Among these guys they were commonly referred to as the "LSD seats" or the "Ralston Purina seats" when new... something tells me Porsche was not going for the Ralston Purina look.
Sorry I wasn't able to get to the show yesterday, yard duties prevailed. My brother and nephew were headed over, though, and I mentioned to them that you would be there, so hopefully they stopped by to say hi. Glad you were able to make it and represent us 'forgotten' P-car owners
Funny when I was talking to my upholsterer about putting pascha cloth in my ‘79 he knew exactly what I was talking about as he spent a lot of time in the ‘80’s getting rid of pascha for 928 owners. Tastes changed abruptly I guess.

glad to hear # 1 was well received and a bonus she has such an exemplary and original pascha interior. T&T
For those in the Northeast we're planning to get #1 up to Porsche Day at Larz Anderson Museum on Sept 8th in Brookline Massachusetts. This is of course "weather permitting" since its rained pretty much 80% of the summer up this way.
Great weather and turn out at Larz Anderson Auto Museum on 9-8-18. Many beautiful Porsches of all types but my favorite was a nice original HellBlau 1980 Euro S manual with super obscure blue Uni-stoffe!
