Is this the clicking sound of a bad LH?

Fully endorse Sean's comment and if you do need a rebuild for either the LH or the MAF you cannot go wrong with John's service -no need for any debate on that point.
You can have your specific unit rebuilt and returned to you or opt for an exchange unit if you need it quickly as Louie usually has refurbed units in stock Stateside. I have never heard of anyone having a problem with anything John has done and if one did it would be resolved immediately.
I use ST2, initially I had a bit of a problem, John reverted immediately with a suggested small mod to the circuit board- problem solved. My system, although configured differently with PEMs still works with the stock factory diagnostic tools. When dismantling the dash last year I goofed, put power on the system whislt the air bag was disconnected and got the airbag alarm. Took the car to the main dealers here, they put their kit on it and reset it- absolutely no problem.
I have no idea how good others are in this field but John is rock solid and have visited him a couple of times whilst passing by his place in Cambridge- he is the real deal and our community is very fortunate to have his expertise working for us.
Unless you have two LH units, any owner running a stock, originally supplied LH is invariably close to LH failure- it is a random thing bound to happen sooner or later and whereas there are a number of failure modes the clicking injectors is probably the most common sign- happened to my late S4 some 13 years ago.

I've never had a problem with his rebuilds and the Hammer.
I install both John's and Rich's rebuilds depending upon customer preference.

I have only one data point with a LH rebuild by Rich on my old 89 S4, and it was a quick turn around and performed flawlessly.
Had a MAF issue with the GT, and again Rich had a quick turnaround and fixed the problem, no issue.
I agree owner preference.

Johns customer service is beyond reproach and have no desire to experiment with anyone elses, my time is worth more than that.
