By hand at the quad the throttle switch clicks as soon as I move it forward, and then clicks back as soon as I release to re-seat in the idle position.

What do you know, started her up from cold and is behaving normally.

maybe you have a throttle cable too tight and messing with the quadrant seated the tight one

Always had throttle switch click on/off at the first pull of the quadrant.

Just to close the loop, I did change all the spark plugs as well and it now idles well.

Just to be complete:
Temp II Sensor
Room temp approx 50 deg - 2.9k ohms at each pin
Operating temp - 290 ohms at each pin
