Speedometer, Odometer, Fuel Gauge Stopped Working
Hi All,
I took off the driver's side door panel to change my door stop strap. I drove the car around with the panel off for a little while with no problems. I finally got around to replacing the door panel this past weekend and as soon as I started up the car to go for a test ride the odometer, speedometer, fuel gauge and pretty much everything stopped working including the digital display. The only thing that works voltmeter.
Could I have damaged something reinstalling the door panel to cause this to happen?
I've checked all of the fuses and it appears there is no fuse or relay that controls the instruments in the dash pod.
Any help you may offer will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Clean the grounds. I'd start with the one on the steering column under the pod. It's a stack of, maybe, 8 connectors on a 6mm stud. (10mm nut) Look underneath on the left side of the column.

IIRC, it IS a fuse as I have had the same symptoms, replaced the fuse and everything is right with the world again.
I think the fuse is #24, but I could be mistaken. Somebody will chime in to confirm or correct.

Hi FredR, What does it mean to earth the power feed to the courtesy light? That may have happened because now the passenger side light just above the fuse box stays on very dimly all of the time. I just noticed it last night. The digital section of the dash also stays very dimly lit all of the time. It sounds like ti need to check the fuses again and possibly take the driver's side door off again. I'm still at work so I'll have to take a look at it later tonight.

You guys are geniuses! When I originally checked the fuses I didn't see any named "dashboard" "speedo" or anything that resembled what wasn't working so I figured it had to be something else. Sure enough #25 was blown! The fuse is labeled as "Diagnoses Connector Current Pulse Tailgate Inside Light". I bought a 7.5 amp fuse and now everything works perfectly.
Thanks for everyones help! I greatly appreciate it.
