My wife's riding plans changed, so I gave up Camp 928, but I'll make SITM. Registered and reserved! And hoping the Waynesboro group will make it.

You could find a lister to help out from any of these locations if you are wanting a 928 ride.
If you are thinking car rental I would choose Charlotte.
It would be fun to hitch a ride, otherwise flying into Charlotte & renting a car looks to be the easiest route. Right now flights from MKE are around $300, not bad.

Man, I sure wish I could go this year, but alas, I cannot. My son is graduating from HS and I will have relatives in town. Gonna try a squeeze in a 1-day HPDE track day in there too (since I can't leave town). I will surely miss the spirited drive (and probably speeding ticket) through the Cherohala skyway and NC209 through Clyde... What an awesome road! Y'all have fun!

It's on the calendar for next year though!

Just bought a shark and haven't taken delivery yet but I immediately signed up for SITM. I'll need all the tips and tricks and camaraderie I can get!
I see some projects on the horizon.

Yes, you do.
SITM is an awesome event for anyone with a 928!
You will be most welcome.

OK all - need a vote of confidence here. I would really like to drive the p-car to SITM this year, but it will be the first trip of more than 40 miles or so in it - I should feel ok about it, after putting almost 1000 miles on it since its 'rebirth' but hey...it still has a long way to go.

Is anyone going for just the day on Saturday and happen to pass through Greenville/Spartanburg on the way that I can travel with to ease the nerves about making the trip?

My son and I will be heading up from Seneca. We go Hwy 11 through Pickens then end up on 25 on the road that goes past The Cliffs and Furman University, and hit I-26 then I-40 then break off toward Banner Elk from there, so you could join up with us anywhere along that route, but we're heading up Friday morning and returning Sunday morning so the timing isn't what you're looking for.

Last year we ran into Kevin from Atlanta in his red GTS on the way in once we turned off I-40, which was fun.

scott,

Have confidence in your work, if you have put a 1,000 miles on it you should be ok. My experience is these cars run much better at highway speeds than they do in short stop and go trips. Why don't you test her this weekend and do a 100-150 mile round trip somewhere just to make sure.... Or you can drive 40 miles stop check things and make it a bunch of 40 miles trips ☺️

What he said!

Have faith in your 928, Scott. You've had it running this long...

I will be driving up from Blacksburg Friday morning. I can have tools and support equipment with me in the Explorer if you think you might need them upon arrival Saturday.

MY plans are to head up Friday morning as well...I am pondering towing up the white 82...perhaps someone might be able to solve my running issue.....I will be catching I-77 near Statesville, NC to 421, hit 105 in Boone, and into Banner Elk. It's about a 2 hr drive for me, little longer if I am towing.

My suburban is running hot..will try the thermostat prior to the trip...if not, I'll jack the wife's Q7

Sounds like Mr Merlin (Stan) might need to post a sign-up sheet to take troubleshooting appts

I want him to feel and then tell me why my clutch pedal sometimes sticks a bit as it's being released.

I certainly plan on being there this year, especially since it will be the 20th anniversary!
Hacker-Pschorr, if you need a ride up from Charlotte might be able to help you out, I live only 8 mi. from Charlotte Douglas airport, maybe we both can coordinate schedules? Last year I was able to give Tony77-928 a ride back to Charlotte so he could fly back to Texas, had a great time! PM if I can help!

Uh...can anyone vouch for this guy? I never met him and this sounds kinda sketchy. Mamma told me not to hitch rides with strangers...

When do you plan on heading over? Having a known launch time could help me narrow down flights. I'm waiting for a work schedule thing before I can commit 100%. I'd be flying back on Sunday if that matters.

Thanks!

Lou's a great guy and you'll probably be riding in his beautiful 85 Euro. T
