Default Some progress

The downhill has begun, we're putting things back together!
Underneath and engine bay have been sprayed with Garnet red metallic 2 pack and clear hardener.
New 250 amp [claimed 125A @ 900 rpm, 250A @1800 rpm] alternator with overrun clutch has been fitted. The crank pulley has had the 2 V belt sections removed a hey are no longer needed. The Bosch/Mercedes alternator has been moved up, back and in and has a Gates automatic tensioner.
Now to do similar with the compressor.

I rather like the alternator belt tensioning idea. So do you have a regular overrun pulley or a Litens OAD (overrun de-coupler) pulley?

Now I'm thinking about how that could be done with a power steering pump in place - certainly more difficult...

While really cool that's my question as well. The rack is assisted and it would seem you put pressures the upper part of the system are not made for it.

Default EPAS mount

Very good question. As near as possible to the alloy casting section of the steering column.
As I'm completely rewiring it, I'll fit the EPAS unit before the loom is built.
The stock loom takes up a lot of space.
It must clear the brake pedal and the HVAC but I'm sure it's doable.
It costs about AU$4.5k so I need to be sure before I buy the system.
The control unit will probably go on the console where the cruise unit was. [DBW cruise now].

I bought the pulley from Eagle Auto who supplied the alternator, so I'm not sure of its pedigree.
If you still want to play with oil Alan, you could do as Mark Anderson [and probably others] and fit an electric oil pump under the guard somewhere.
ZF and others make them.

Exactly. I will be changing the shafts and U-joints to high tensile steel ones.

Eagle Auto in LA. It's a long way from home for me but I have always had great service from them and even with postage, their price is right.

I really like this alternator and tensioner set you are using! Late model GM's (Holden?) with the LS3 use a similar system on the A/C on the opposite side, as you have here. I suspect you have considered something like that over there, will you use the Porsche style V belt for the A/C or move to a ribbed belt like the alternator?

Can you (will you) post the part number for the alternator?

Sure thing. I put it away in my messy store room while the bracket gets gold zinced, plus it will likely be a while yet before I can get the block bored and the bits balanced. Sadly!

What bore material are you going to run? Are you using aftermarket pistons?
