I have some questions about the 928 oil pan in PET.
Please see items 25, 28, and 30:
When I removed the oil pan from the Red Witch, I found a black plastic sleeve in one of the front bolt holes. Nothing else.
On the PET drawings, item 25 is listed as 'dowel sleeve', and calls for 2 of them.
Item 28 is listed as 'Roll Pin 5 x 10', and calls for 1 of them.
Item 30 is listed as 'Support', and calls for 1 of them.
I am assuming items 25 and 28 positively locate the oil pan to the crankcase.
The 2 #25 are rubber sleeves. Why? I dunno. Those holes get the longer bolts like most of the other holes.
I'm not familiar with #28. A roll pin is typically used to locate one part on another before bolting them together. I've done a few cars of various vintages and don't recall seeing one. The bolts will do the job just fine.
Thank you, GlenL, I appreciate it. That makes sense. No #30 support for me.
I'll not worry about the #28 roll pin, and just install the one #25 sleeve that I have.
Seth the black guides are made to center the pan over the bolt holes,
left front corner and right rear corner, they will hold the bolts in the pan while you place it into position
I have never seen any roll pins for centering.
though i do use strands of copper wire to hold the silicone gasket in place while fitting the pan.
the support as mentioned is for the clutch line and takes longer bolts to hold it to the pan,
you dont need the longer bolts or the bracket.
Their are 5 shorter bolts.
four of these go over the cross member ,
and one goes over the starter.
So this info doesnt matter.
I see your fitting the studs,
I would would like your old set of pan bolts to use on my GT thanks.
