Installation of Stebel Aftermarket Horn 1981 Porsche 928S
Hello !
I wanted to install a really loud (SAFE) horn on my old stealth-gray 928.

After receiving some wonderfully useful advice about relays and wiring
here https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...rket-horn.html , I thought I would post up an quick description of the install process.
First, removal of the old horns in the forward section of the passenger front wheel well...
Next, I tried to "eyeball" the likely clearance
for the rotation of the passenger headlight,
and decided on a nice install point lower on the inner wheel well....
I confidently drilled a new hole to mount the horn, got everything buttoned up, and for some unknown reason decided at the point to actually TEST if the headlight would rotate.
I disconnected the circlip for the headlight bar nearest the headlight motor, and rotated the lights. BONK. Oops. No go. I turned out the lights in the garage and walked away for the rest of the weekend ha ha.
I came back later in the week and I plugged up the "mistake hole" with a couple of washers, a nut and bolt, and some undercoating goo.
Next, I made a new metal mounting bracket and used the original factory location for the mounting.
Plenty of clearance now.
I used new body clips for re-mounting the mud guard.
I also went ahead and removed, cleaned and re-placed to brake air vent.
I started slowly opening up the mud guard in the wheel well with a Dremel tool, and a slow process of install-remove-refit-reinstall....
The final product allows the "trumpets" of the new horn to project out into the open air, while all the rest of the horn is protected behind the mud guard. There's the Stebel Horn poking out after the fitting...
Next, I asked my Ninja Supermodel Wife for a pair of her BioAware Graphene Pantyhose.
She very kindly obliged.
(ADULT CONTENT: VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED)
These made a great first-step for protecting the exposed portion of the horn.
I also used some weapons-grade Polyetheretherketone foam to seal off the gaps around the new horn.
Here she is, almost done.
My last step will be to fashion a simple stone guard from some galvanized hardware cloth http://www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-1-2-i...26HD/204331883
After a couple of stupid setback and mistakes, I'm pretty happy with the horn.
And boy it really is loud.

How loud is the speaker on your phone?
-----
I put a similar horn into the stock location, but didn't do any of the splash-panel surgery you did to let the noise out. Without that panel, VERY loud. With the panel installed, it's way louder than the originals but not loud enough to wake up the driver in the quiet car yakking on the phone.
I guess I need to get on with the the work if I want it to be really effective. I came pretty close to mounting it in front of the condenser but behind the flaps.
