I know we have a 'for sale' section, but sometimes cars get 'buried' in there and I feel this car is just too significant to miss for or those on the list that don't check that thread. It's Hoi's #155 of 205 (give or take a few, I know) Weissach special editions. Add in that it's been had a mechanical re-do by Stan Kolen (MrMerlin) and a crazy high $$ detail is icing...
Knowing all the wrecked, beat, non-running, missing luggage trashed ones I've seen, this one is a true 'Unicorn' - I really think the # of Weissachs left in running but ratty condition has got to be in below 100, and in nice condition less than 25-30. I know Roger has a nice 5 speed and Eman's is pretty darn nice as well, but that's about it. I'm hoping someone on Rennlist will grab this. If I had the cash right now I would be in the running but I'm trying to conserve cash/sell a few items due to other issues in my life.
Thanks for the encouragement and nice message Alex. You are a true gentleman.
As you all can relate, a large part of me is hoping I don't sell this car and is worrying that I will regret this decision in the next few years. This car truly is an unicorn.
I'm getting nervous with only 3 days to go. Web traffic had been slower after the first 48 hrs and maybe worse today due to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. We will see.....
You are right on (used) car sales overall during the holidays. New car sales surge, due to manufacturer incentives. But you aren't selling a new Ford Fusion... You are selling a 35 year old classic - and that needs no rebate or incentive. Just the right buyer.
I noticed on my weekly car search, fewer new listings have appeared over the past 3 weeks. But if one of the vehicles I am after pops up, I am a buyer, regardless of timing. Hopefully the same can be said for BAT Auctions this week and your car. GLWS
That's a wonderful car Hoi, one in a million. It will surely crack 40k, if not higher.
I know some of the bidders are stuck on the AC issue, which I see as a moot point with such a fine Weissach. If you need some R12 I think I may have an extra can I could send you. If you plan to charge it up.
On a different note, it seems like the standards on BAT are going down hill. The last S4 to sell and the black one currently up for auction are just typical un-loved S4's sitting at used car dealers, no service history etc. Hopefully they don't continue this trend as it muddies the waters.
Good luck Hoi. I am following this. I think it will go high. It started off way faster than they usually do, and the last minute flurry, which seems to be a built in feature of BAT, hasn't yet begun. I have a prediction of $40K for it.
I wouldn't worry then Hoi. Sounds like you are in a win-win situation. If it does sell, I agree with the others that this will be $40K plus. If it doesn't sell then you get to keep your Unicorn. But I think it's going to sell and for big $$$!

would think it has already hit it's reserve on BAT ? GLWS Hoi T

If Hoi is smart I doubt it. Weissachs are rare beasts and 5 speeds even rarer. Keep in mind how many FACTORY special edition 928's were made in the entire 18 year run of 928s: TWO. The Weissach for US, (205 made) and the Jubilee Edition (141 made) for ROW. That's it. No more. And how many left? As the tide rises you have to believe nice ones will be at or near the top of the heap. A perfect Weissach in person is just crazy beautiful inside and out. I have one thats 'not so nice' but have been in and around E-man's and there is just something about the color scheme and all that leather...
Thank you for the encouragement everyone! It does feel good to come home after a long, busy day at work and see this much kind words from fellow enthusiasts.
Adam, thank you for your message on BaT and thank you for your offer of R12. Stan will help me out this week with some freon and see if it will get the AC going before the auction ends.
Again, all your messages are much appreciated.

My 91 GT had sat for at least 10 years prior to my getting it. The AC didn't work. I noticed oily residue around both the Expansion valves (had rear AC also) and replacing both of these and an overnight vacuum test showed it held vacuum now. Recharged with R12 and still blows cold four years later. Could be simple fix?
