aftermarket/Euro Throttle body for 16V

Hi Cory,
Well, the '86 Euro S2 intake is like your motor, it has the "8 legged spider"just the same as yours.
It was the US early 32v in 65-86 that had the "organ pipes" intake system.
It does look as though I've sold the set, but if that falls through I 'll let you know.

you will need to find a throttle body, large, that can have a 4 bolt attachment to the "U". then you need to figure out how to mount it to the throttle body linkage. you may be able to find a euro Throttle body somewhere. maybe even porsche has one.
yes, just add the intake system and get 30-40hp!
I just did this to a weissach 82 this last week and it was amazing!!

Mark, you forgot to mention that you need to open up the exhaust for better results. 85-86 headers or a set of MSDS headers will help to remove the increased mixture out of the engine. I think this is just as key as the intake mod.
As we all know, the more and quicker you can get it in and out, the better off you are going to be performance wise.

Yes, I'm way to interested in this mod to turn it down. 30-40 extra hp in a 928 does wonders, let alone everycar! But, I need some prices and a good place to find the runners, TB and plenum. Other than that, i'm going to get headers but if I can find the EURO TB parts etc.. then I guess the headers can wait. Oh and Mark I might take you up on that offer of you making up a system...but if you can't I have the tools to machine things out.
Thanks for everyone's info.

This will probably sound like I've been smokin' the happy grass, but...
I've thought of retaining the spider legs, replacing the TB with a pipe, and replacing the plenum with a machined piece. Said machined part would have individual throttle plates in front of each leg connection.

the nice thing about the US system is that it is so darn BASIC. as long as you seal to the AFM, you can probably do most anything!! the euro is the optimum set up, as it allows for use of the stock air box and aFM from the US. no changes, 30-40hp rear wheel bolt on!!
so, if you just keep the runners and make your own plennum and inlet from the TB as well as a custom TB, you would then just have to make some plate to attach the aftermarket TB to the " U" (part that joins the TB to the AFM and its a very close fit, and allows for use and fitment of the US air box, which is extremely efficient. (especially when vented to the rear )
individual throttle bodies would be interesting but hard to fit to some plenumm . however, maybe 2 throttle bodies one on each side, and then a y pipe to the AFM would be the way to go. Lots of ways to skin a cat here. as long as you open it up, you will get some great gains. However, the euro is the best design Ive seen. keep in mind, I got 292 rear wheel out of a 5 liter, with less compression than the 4 valve engine, did it with only 2 valve euro, and the old intake sytem. Kind of proving the euro intake and heads system is possibly better than the US 4 valve MAF system. (at least for 85-86 US) m AND all out of a 4sq" AFM inlet on the US too!!!!
However, I dont think the CIS euro 5 liters gained any, so its all about the same. ALL GOOD!!

I'm still baffled that this upgrade will give my 1982 30-40RWHP, what is so much different about the US setup(TB, Runners, Plenum) and the EURO? Oh and I have open airbox, and bungie cords lol holding the filter down so it won't get sucked down. It feels as if it has more power and I'm thinking of trying to vent air from the slot in the rear of the hood. Anyone have any ideas on how to make that work without actually sealing the airbox to the back of the hood, because i don't want water injected in there from rain. It is my everyday driver.
THanks guys,

probably better to use the cover with the intake tubes and then cut holes in it. at least then, you get some of the colder air from the front of the car . you dont need much more than a few holes or tubes venting to the base of the windshield. easy to do, even if you have all the wiper and AC stuff there.
Yes, 30-40hp. the TB is SOOO much larger , its not even funny. the throttle body on the US versions look like a TB from a honda civic.
check out the holbert picutures, there is the first stage of my venting of the air box to the rear , base windshield area.

Cory, please, ditch the bungie, for 20 bucks I'll make you one of these!
It looks slightly different now...
...flat bar instead of the 'ladder'.
Mark, just to clarify, my thought was to use multiple throttle plates in a single body, with the stock elbow and AFM.

Mark, do you have link to the pictures or a website I can look at the airbox?
Thanks porken, I'll keep that open airbox mod up for ideas, but I think i might drill holes, but if that doesn't work i'll get back to you. Plus the reason i'm using bungie cords is that i don't have any more rubber straps that went on there before and the filter will never ever come off lol.
Thanks,
Cory J.
