Last year, timing belt and associated rebuild, prox $1,500. Shudda wrenched it myself.

This year, brakes, rotors, sensors all around, AJ USA steering wheel, RMB, front shifter cup, short shifter, analog clock, Aero mirrors, painted wheel centers. I did all the labor myself, blew about $2 grand.

This winter, Tim's SC kit. Looks like next year is gonna cost me north of $8 grand........

Since the timing belt on Heidi not a whole lot on repairs, but have spent bucket loads on upgrades and cosmetics. And I'm not done yet.

Lets see, includeing tires, right at 3,000 in the last year. I do all my own wrenching, but bear with me.

I bought the car as a project. That 3,000 incoludes a t-belt job, 6 new tires, rebuilding the frount passangers side brake caliper, with the associated turning of the frount drums. Repairing the EFI system, a practicaly rebuilt ignition system. And much work on the a/c system, including conversion to R-134a. This is in addition to trouble shooting the electric locks, the rear window wiper, new wipers, a leaky hatch, and a faulty sun roof. New vacuum hoses, and belts.

The down side? I've still got to re repair the a/c system. I reused the old compresser, which promptly blew the nose seal. And I've not yet trouch the worn syncros, or dog teeth.

$3K past year, but most of the work has been done at the dealer. I could have saved quite a bit doing more myself, but would rather drive it than wrench it.

It is near perfect after 4 years of ownership

2003: $1670 ( AC compressor, Air pump, brakes, etc)
2002: $2469 (new tires, LH controller, Timing Belt, etc)
2001: $283

2000: Purchased it for a low price due to the known mechanical repairs needed so I dont count this year.

First year almost nothing due to good PO.
second year about 2K (TB belt, alternator, clutch slave cylinder)
this year about 1.5K (clutch, & some small stuff)
The a/c compressor has failed this year (not yet replaced) and the above does not include 2 sets of tires around 600/700 per set

First 2 years was very reasonable for a 170mph supercar.
Then these past 6 months, all the majors were due.
117K miles.
Clutch, Devek radiator, Steering rack (lasted only 2.5 years old),
A/C recharge/conversion . . .
Had clutch done in NYC shop or not make SITM.
Still trying to figure out the $1200 in labor.

construction plate grabbed one corner and wrapped it under car.
Or the 928Specialist AL bellypan cause the fiber one's pretty shredded.

I try with moderate success to keep it to $1500 for repairs and restoration. That makes it a slow process but it's also a marriage preservation measure and a means to prevent me becoming completely obsessed! Last year I crashed it and tore the budget to shreds but that was unusual.

I have owned my 82 since 1997. I have put only 22,000 miles on it and have spent $15,000 + including a motor pull, rebuild, replace. Less than a dollar a mile!!! Such a deal!!!

I've spent about 2200 since may but it's a skewed finding because I bought a fixer-upper.

I think I spend a grand on maintenance per year on all my cars, including the new ones, after year 2...

I like things to be ship-shape in Bristol fashion...

The last two years have been pretty easy for me as well. The PO owned the car for 2 years and put 15K into it. That also included 3K in wheels and 1K in exhaust. The rest was maintanence including an engine rehab (head gaskets and new rubber under the hood).
I've put 2K into over the past 2 years which includes all fluids change, rear tires, a few other wear items, and mostly goodies/mods. Also that includes tools (t-belt tensioner) and manuals. Additionally I have $900 into an S4 suspension and brake package, which I have yet to install. Don't know if I'm going to.

I have fixed a lot of simple things on my own. And I'm sure it helps having a bunch of extra parts on the shelf.

I have a few repair items on my list for this winter including new window switches, sunroof cables, intake polish/powdercoat, and HVAC vaccum system

So Jim the P O spent 11k for repairs in two years you have another 2K total $13,000 divided by 4 years is $3,250 per year and you still have a short list of issues. Just a tad north of the poll Max of $1,200 per year.

I'd say the car costs about $2-2.5K a year to maintain. Some years - more (I did the t-belt/water pump/cam gears together), some - [hopefully] less. As for "repairs" - fixing stuff that broke - almost nothing.
