Default seatrails

Hi,

while reading a lot about the 928, I think I've read somewhere that the seatrails are mounted 15 mm lower at MY 1985 and later cars - to get more headroom.
Is it possible to to this at a MY 1983 car, without cutting and welding ...?

I checked one out last weekend and did a testdrive - and even though it was a non-sunroof car, my head was really close to the roof. So I wonder if this could be changed with little action.

Manual seats (non-powered) can give more headroom, and mounting them at the rearmost position puts the seat at the lowest part of the sloped mounts. I'm 6'8" and fit ok in my 1980 non-sunroof with manual seats.

wow - I'm 6'4" and it's very close
but the car in question has electric adjustable seats, and I'd like to keep them original ...

Switch out the tracks for manual units. Retain the switches and keep the tracks to restore the car to original when you choose to. It's not the most elegant solution but will get you those extra inches of headroom.
