Shocking to believe...I do a huge variety of different tasks on different 928's.

It is absolutely impossible to restore every car when they come in just to get them running, at as low a cost as possible.

This particular example waited for two months to have me look at it and was towed from another shop....that could not make it run.

I assume they have the cross brace which did not come with the car when it was towed to me.....

Are you people saying I should buy a cross brace and install it on my own money to maintain my level of perfection?

Hell, why don't I just do a complete restoration for the few hundred dollars it took me to figure out the running problem?

I know you guys have brains....try to use them.

Not hardly.

Sarcasm and cheap shots are way different.

Could someone spend another 80K on it?

Absolutely!

On the other hand, someone could have a Euro to drive!

Pretty good value!

I still wonder why people put something on Craigslist with no price ??? are they that lonely that they simply want people to contact them ?? or those who post a photo of another car but fully restored to show what it COULD look like.

A local Craigslist 928, $55,000. No photos, are you ready to buy? It's "new" so how could one resist? It could be a great opportunity but I am not even going to call when a seller can't even post a set of photos on a car in this price range, even if the price range only exists in his mind.

PORSCHE 928S - 1987 - $55000 (Houston)
1987 porsche 928 s
condition: new
cylinders: 8 cylinders
drive: rwd
fuel: gas
paint color: silver
size: mid-size
title status: clean
transmission: automatic
type: coupe

This car is in perfection condition, all original, looking for a serious Porsche collector/fanatic.

The Porsche 928s is a luxury GT car which was produced by Porsche AG of Germany from 1978 to 1995. Originally intended to replace the company's well-known and famed 911, the 928 combined the power, poise, and handling of a sports car with the refinement, comfort, and equipment of a luxury sedan to create what some Porsche executives thought would be a vehicle with wider appeal than the compact, quirky and sometimes difficult 911.

Since its inception in 1949, Porsche has manufactured only seven front-engined models, four of which were coupes, including the 928. The car has the distinction of being the company's only coupe powered by a front-mounted V8 engine, and the company's first production V8 powered model.

What gets to me is one person will put his non-running, "been sitting for ten years-just needs a battery" 928 on CL for ten grand and within a week, all of the same cars that were for sale last year come flying out at higher prices that they didn't sell for the previous year. And nobody will budge on price.

No mileage stated. But - the rub is, if it's under 300 documented miles in TX, then it can be sold as new, and the price would be supportable. My bet is that it is NOT under 300 documented miles. More like +150k miles.

These days, even the crappiest dumb phones have decent enough cameras so for me, the biggest turn off is terrible photographs (out of focus, cropped weirdly, tiny, three crap views of the front of the car and nothing else).

That and no interior shots is always a red flag.

Sadly most put about the same amount of thought and effort in their adds as they do their "selfies"..

"It probably just needs..., but I haven't had time to fix it"

"...which is why there are no service records with the car"

"...started as a project, but I have too many of those on the go to finish it"

Apologies, my attempt at humour. The ad said "Porsche specialist: Precision Motorworks - verifies this car is solid and in good shape" I'd suggest the advertiser misrepresented your involvement.
