the ONLY thing im guessing about was the cause of the heat. the heat was there, and it was extreme. i dont need a temp gauge to know this. been doing this too long not to know when the gear box is hot and makes things a little dicy during shift times. put it this way, when i pull the cover its smoking hot. 200F on the outer case.

what im asking , is when the oil is too hot, can it be ejected through a seal or cover designed to relieve pressure?

Cut a burr hole in the top of the transmission tunnel and see whether there's a trail of oil from the vent. I will guess that that's where it's coming from.

IIRC, Anderson mentioned once that he saw trans temps of 300 in the Zombie before he added a cooler.

my 200F was an ir gun after the race welll after the race. im sure it was much higher.

i have a compllete hatch like anderson has in his car..... i guess, illl have to unbolt it all to see... are you thinking that little button hole vent on the top cover of the trans??? if so, that would be good news.. just too hot and need to get a cooler.
thanks!

Video from Race 2. From Tom (Turtle) and his porsche. he was in the top 3 in the PCA race out of 60 cars.... shows how well the old dog 928 would have run in a pure porsche class.

some excitement at 10:00 on the video

Mqrk,

Excellent video. Interesting how the landscape is [superficially at least] very similar to that over here -very desert like. Pity we do not have that circuit.

That entrance to the Corkscrew looks awesome and the 928 sure did well going through there.

Regards

Fred

The Best rear cam video yet.

here is the 928 vs some of the fastest BMWs in the country, the Turtle Jerry woods 911, a newish GT3 Porsche, C7 Vet, and a host of other cars.

listen to that 928 engine sing! no smoke, no problem for the 30 year old car!! with 80 race days on that engine!!!
