+1 for Greg Brown / Precision Motorwerks custom exhaust and tune!
Its been six years to get to this point. 2010 to 2015 saw me mostly catching up on deferred maintenance and plain old wear and tear. On my last trip to see Greg around this time summer 2015 I asked what the first step was for more performance. The answer came back that I should consider a custom exhaust and shark tune.
Now my car came with a RMB and I loved it though I never thought it suited the car, then one trip to Vegas and a 24hr headache from the freeway drone had me begging Greg for help, which he kindly did by switching out the RMB with a stock GT muffler. Great for longer drives but lets face it a stock muffler just doesn't sound that special. Anyway back to my discussion with Greg and I mentioned that I have spent money on exhaust systems before and never been happy so was very nervous. Greg explained all the time and effort he put into making it civilized under normal driving and on the freeway. In my mind I decided this was the path to go so I started saving, because after 5 years of ownership I think we all know that something would need to be repaired or replaced once the installation started. In my case it turned into several somethings but at least I got the excuse to have the cam covers powdercoated to match the intake.
I dropped it off several weeks ago and just got it back this week. WOW. Greg needs to give this system a name, something like... Restrained Fury or Banshee. First the exhaust, it sounds pleasing to my ear both at idle as well as normal driving, powerful yet restrained, its a sound that I think suits a 928. On the freeway, again as promised no drone. Then I tried some wide open throttle and holy hell it sounds incredible, a banshee wail thats addictive and sends chills down your spine. Its the kind of sound you associate with a true supercar.
And lets not forget the shark tune, before it always felt a little slow accelerating from low speed. Back to back with my wife's 335i the 928 felt a little old to be honest, though where the BMW runs out of steam, the 928 always just kept on pulling so I just put it down to the fact that its a true GT. Well not anymore, now it feels fast, though I am sure the exhaust noise makes it feel faster too. I can put my foot down in any gear and it just pulls. It has brought the car bang up to date and no longer feels tired.
If anyone is thinking about going this route I can't say enough good things about it, and this is on a car that has 200,000k on the odo.
And since I know the thread is useless without pictures here are a couple.
Thanks again Greg!

I really want this set up for my own car. Having experienced his exhaust set up on a a Euro, the improvements are exactly as described. Fantastic.

Ashley - are you going to Plano? Just spent three days there with your compatriots.
+1 on the exhaust. I installed it on two cars, both to excellent results.
