I found a ignition protection relay for it.my harness doesn't have a plug for it that I can see on it. Unless the plug in the picture is it? I can't give up on it as I have the engine in now and too broke to go back .

I went and looked at my 90 car, and my IMS board is connected with a white plastic molex type and not this pin/socket type. I don't know what that connector is for, but I don't think it's the IMS. However, you will need the IMS connector, and the board with relays. Not just the 'relay' itself.

We need to know what that 12 pin is for, and we need to find the IMS connector if that's not it. Get the wire colors off the pins numerically, and we might be able to hunt it down that way. Look for a white molex connector around the LH area.

I bought a electrical diagrams 89 Porsche manual so I hope it will help when I get it. I also checked the fuel injection relay it has 12 v in and out. There is also a 2 pin plug I don't know what its for. I am going to post 2 more photos . Rob.

I'll look at my 89 when I get home to see what that's connected to.

If you are using the stock 86 harness, wouldn't it be much simpler to just use the stock 86 computers?
It's the same MAF, same coils.
A spark plug fires, an injector squirts, the piston goes down and every one is smiling?
In fact, with the S4 fuel pressure regulator in place, add Porken's S300 chipset and you are way better than the stock S4 motor.

so you are not sure what harness came with that motor? or did you get that harness separate from the motor? can you get the motor number off the front of it? so we can make sure what year motor you picked up.

The motor is a 89 I bought the harness from a salvage yard and it is supposed to be 87or 88 and they said it would fit 87to 95 I have the computers from the car but the harness from the engine had been burnt bad from the fuel regulator leak the harness I bought doesn't have molex connector for the ignition protection circuit so I don't know what to do with it unless I can wire that into it .

They were kind of right. The 87 and 88 didn't have the IMS circuit, so no white molex connector. You can ignore that part of the stuff.

Seriously, this is going south fast. The suggestion to use the existing harness, and just use the 89 engine might be the way to go.
