Default 89 engine swap in to86

Hi I have installed a 89 engine into my 86 and my harness is either 87 or 88 no sensor plugs for exhaust. I have the 89 computers and will use them I don't know if I have to change coding on the coding plugs or are they plug and play .I don't have a manual and confused on the wiring I would appreciate any help Thanks Rob.

ya, i would pick up a set of manuals, and check that all the wiring for the computers will work with the CE panel in the car.... no need to start fires or short out the computers.

Very easy to adapt.

A couple small changes needed to the wiring, but nothing major.

Spritz some carb cleaner in the intake while cranking the engine. If it fires, you have ignition and you can jump the fuel pump relay then. I don't know what that 12 pin is but betting it's important.

The real question is WHY WOULD IT WORK ??? as Lizard pointed out needs a "couple small changes to the wiring" . That swap is NOT PLUG AND PLAY....and trying to do it without having wiring diagrams is like driving from California to New York without a map !

^^^ yup.

how did you install the harness? there is some wiring that will need to be changed around, or else you will let the smoke out of the computers.

I have tried to put some fuel in intake and it doesn't fire.I also bypassed the fuel pump relay and it runs but no pressure. I used the 86 front harness and changed the oil pressure switch. I also wired the sensors on motor.the main thing I am not sure of is the coding plugs I just plugged them in without changing anything on them .no smoke so far but don't know if there right. Any help is greatly appreciated thanks Rob

That 12 pin should be for the IMS.

The 3 pin round plug looks like the O2 sensor plug

There was a connector at the fuse panel with a green and white wire,
The white needs to go to green and green to white when using an 87-95 harness in a 85/86 car.

Do you have spark or fuel pulses?
