^^^ That car sold for pretty strong money considering a seller without engaging, an obvious need for major maintenance work (top end refresh, fuel lines, etc). Yes it was fairly low miles for an 87. The 5 speed really helped it. I thought is a fair deal at $25K.
I wasn't going to say anything during the action on BaT, but it does need a bit of work. Nice car and has the potential to be very, very nice. Seller did not help himself on that. It sold fairly in my opinion.
Hoi, I think you are golden for the next couple days.
1. Excellent original paint
2. Perfect original interior
3. Low Miles
4. 5-speed
5. No known major mechanical issues.
1-3 set the price.
A car with 100% all up to date mechanical's without any of those would not be worth as much IMO.
I didn't read the full description or look at all the photos, so if 1-3 are not correct, disregard

I guess "major" means different things to different people. What you describe is just maintenance in my book. "Major" is something like synchros are shot, rod knock, TBF....
Top end refresh & fuel lines is a long weekend. Even head gaskets on a 31 year old car isn't a big deal, unless you pull the heads to find major corrosion & the valve guides are shot. Even then, replacement heads are not exactly difficult to come by.
Considering the physical condition, I think it went cheap. Paint & interior work greatly outweigh mechanical expenses unless you own a body shop & can do all your own leather work. Low mileage is impossible to "fix" on a higher mileage car.
I thought the interior and exterior looked ok. It is strong money but not outrageous given the current price trend. The motor has some issues, but a ""couple"" long weekends should fix it up.
(Hacker is obviously quicker at top end refreshes than I am...)
Thank you all for your support through the week. It was nerve wrecking but the result was well worth it.
BaT continues to be the best auction site for no excuses cars like Dwayne's Iris.
Looks like Dwayne's car will go back to California, and hopefully, it will end up with a 928 enthusiast and he will join us here.
Thank you again-Hoi

That is one hell of a stunning car. I can imagine your anxiety having to part with it. Not really up to speed on US prices but is that a fair price for an example of the quality? I was honestly thinking it would've been around US$50K+, but like I said, not all that up to speed on the pricing over there.
I think it was sold at a price I was happy with. As Nate has stated on BaT, it is the highest priced auto pre-S4 sold there. Of course, I wouldn't mind higher ($45-50k) but I am content with the result. With BC's 5 spd 86.5 with just a little more miles sold for ~$50k recently in Amelia, I cannot complain about $40.5k for mine.
The Rennlist community really helped by giving interested parties/bidders confidence in what they are getting (of course, being "Dwayne's car" probably did more than anything else).
Like I always said, if you can stand behind your car and fully disclose what you have, BaT is the best by far.

Nice work Hoi.
Very well presented.
Congratulations!
Curious about what the experts think - fairly low miles (30K+/- I believe) 1995 928 GTS, red over tan, 5 speed, in condition 1-. Could be one available soon according to a birdie that landed on my shoulder recently.

$125k if on BaT and includes jump post cover and splash shield. It will all depend upon how many red/tan bidders show.
Unless Turboboost already has a buyer lined up and it never gets to auction. A low-mileage GTS 5-speed doesn’t leave its garage without him knowing...
