Default 86 5.0 Injector Question

Hi Guys,

Is there an easy way to find a dead injector. I have a misfire and have changed all plugs, the caps, rotors and leads and a new maf. Car has been sitting around for two years and started periodically. Doesn't get hot, no gases in radiator and no intermix.

Noid light will do it, at least tell you if the injector is getting power.

I had a bad injector once even though I had witnessed all 8 being cleaned and tested. Upon start up something felt wrong and we simply undid the injector connectors one at a time until we found the culprit [No 7] wherein we felt no change. fortunately i had a spare set of such and half an hour later I was back on full song albeit with one injector that had not been cleaned/tested.

Another approach would be to use a mechanical stethoscope to listen to each injector- did not have one at the time- do now. The noid light sounds a more elegant approach.

Rgds

I would think that you could use a mechanics stethoscope to hear if each one is cycling (clicking) off and on, that would at least let you know if it getting power, but not if it were clogged .
I would run some techron or sea foam through the tank also to help clean the fuel system.
That should be done periodically anyway.

Fred's approach is what the LH test plan recommends first.
You can also pull off injector plugs, bridge relay XVII, and verify 10-12 volts between ground and plugs.
Or, check resistance on each injector... 16 ohm for stock injectors I think?
