Bringing it back on-point
In the interest of addressing the OP's original question:
Since taking possession of my 85 exhaust and removal of my 84 exhaust (from my 84), could anyone use my intact and complete 84 system from y-pipe to muffler?
I would swap it for something if it better agreed with an interested individual.

No need for a membership. Unless you want to upload lots of pictures for IB's benefit. Or Off topic which can consume great amounts of time. You will be judged on your behavior here. And you WILL be judged...lol

Well, I can't prove this, but...I think maybe you get what you give. Or, at the very least, you're going to get more information and more attention to your questions if you are a member.

OK, ... ignoring the clacking of coconuts and the Trojan Rabbit plan for a minute...
There are no formal requirements for membership in the frat' beyond an enthusiasm for the cars and the folks who own them. Every car and every owner come to us with a story of some sort. How they came to have an interest in the car, how that interest was fulfilled, etc. Pics of the car help break the ice better than almost anything.
The group is for the most part a DIY support network, with a seasoned user base that's ready to help diagnose most any symptom you present for evaluation. Some members have been on here since the beginning of time as we know it, and a few have migrated from predecessor sites from before the beginning of these modern times.
Recommendations:
--- Read the new-users guide at the top of the first page. Common questions and answers dwell within.
--- Search is your friend. The search tool is OK but not spectacular. You can use Google to search the site by adding "site:rennlist.com" to the end of your search string.
--- Like most forums and communities, there are "personalities" to deal with. My personality is perfect of course, and one against which others shall be measured. My opinions are always equivalent to God's Truth. I won't argue with you when you are right, so please don't argue with me because I am always right.
--- There are privileged words and subjects that are best left alone. The list of those includes torque and horsepower, the best oil to use, how superior the auto gearboxes are over the manual versions... Others will add to that list for us.
Membership in Rennlist has a few great privileges, all for a few measly annual dollars. Most apparent is a reduction in pop-up ads and commercial messages. The site is a commercial enterprise that costs money to operate. So it's pay a small membership fee or agree to the commerce model with ads I guess. You also get some interesting benefits like the ability of add your car's info to a signature line, vs. having to type all that stuff into every post.
Back to the frat thing... There are regional events that are great to go to, a chance to rub elbows with those of a similar addiction. The DFW area group has at least monthly breakfast gatherings and other trips and events planned. The annual calendar has several major events scattered in different places and times.
Need a hand fixing something? It's not too tough to get folks to come give advice, drink your beer, and even hold the tools sometimes when you get into a project. In return, you can go help others with advice, tool-holding, and destruction of beer stashes when they need it.
Other thoughts -- Grow a thick skin, a ton of patience, tolerance, forgiveness, etc. Have fun, enjoy the ride! And welcome to the group!
