Hey CS...is there any possibility of finding out what that have planned when they arrive in Vancouver, Canada? We have a pretty healthy group of enthusiasts here and would love to meet them somewhere outside of town for a proper escort into the city. Dinner...sightseeing...group meet...we are more than willing to help organize. We are game to do anything we can to promote this epic trek!

"Dear Tony, Really Happy to read you, i remember this very nice dinner together in Paris Effectively we started a new road trip our 928, biggest one this time as this is a trip around the world 2 parts, first is Paris Tokyo, we already do it from end of may till middle july. Actually the car is travelling by sea transport between Japan and Alaska. We will go back to Anchorage beginning of september in order to perform the second part from Anchorage to New York. We plan to arrive New York end of october, our route will be Anchorage, Vancouver, San Francisco, Dallas, New Orleans, Washington, and New York. Will send you some various pictures of the first part. I realise each part of this trip with a son. I don't see where is exactly the first meeting of 928 in september ? For november we will not be in usa unfortunately. Hope to see you again in usa during this trip. Best regards Philippe"
That said, sounds like there timing will not coincide with Sharktoberfest or 3rd Coast. Dallas is on there hit list guessing early Oct ? Maybe someone in the DFW crew can put together a informal welcome party-maybe dinner or ? Frenzy might work but again there timing looks a bit off for that if they plan on being in NY end of Oct. T

The customs services can be a a pain in the a... in every country.

They will leave Paris Sunday 11th of September.

I have been communicating with Philippe as well as the local 928 group in Vancouver, BC is planning to meet up with them on their way through. The car finally cleared customs yesterday and now they are trying to secure insurance in North America. He has found one company willing to help but they would need an address in California to issue the insurance. Philippe has asked if anyone would know of a willing garage in California to let him use their mailing address for 2 months? If you can help please let me know or you can contact him directly at: philippe.delaporte@wanadoo.fr
They are hoping to have insurance in place before they arrive so they can get a quick start on the long drive to Alaska...then turn around and head back down through the lower 48.

Well, they will arrive later than expected in the USA.
They have been in Iran less than 5 years ago so the ESTA is refused...
and the insurance is still a problem.
If someone here knows how to insurance a French car in the USA, don't hesitate to contact Philippe!

After a lot of problems with the US administration, they should be back on the road soon!
