A quick update.
First, the website will change soon:
http://www.porsche-928-expedition.com/
The main page will offer the choice between the 2011 trip and the 2016 soon.
It will be possible to have the current location of the car, in real time.
Then the start will be Saturday 28th of May, from Paris, at 10:00 (GMT+2).
And the GT and Philippe were at the annual meeting of the Club Porsche 928 de France last Sunday. It was the first trip of the car after a major overhaul. Everything is fine.

OK, here is the global plan:
- Paris - Moscou - Vladivostok - Tokyo (May to July 2016)
Then a container to carry the car to Anchorage
- Anchorage - Los Angeles - Houston - New York (September to October 2016)
Then a container to carry the car to Le Havre (France)
Philippe will do the first part with one of his two sons, and the second part with the other.

It was great meeting Phillip in Paris a few years ago. He was kind enough to bring the 928 WT (World Tourer ) for us all to see. Maybe Phillipe and one of his sons could extend there visit to TX a bit longer and attend the upcoming 3rd Coast event 1st weekend in Nov ? T

The new website is online:
http://www.porsche-928-expedition.com/
Don't hesitate to contact Philippe and his sons if you would like to meet them or invite them to an event (philippe.delaporte@wanadoo.fr). Don't worry, they are fluent in English

What a great way to showcase the 928 marquee. It would be nice for one of our Porsche rags to document the event. Can't imagine the logistics to put this all together. Magnifique !

IIRC correctly, Dallas has the highest concentration of 928s in the world.
A very good selection of all models of the 928 at each monthly 928 breakfast get togethers.
You are pretty much guaranteed to see at least one (or more) of each 928, 928 S, 928 S4, 928 GT, 928 GTS.
A great opportunity to see many of them side by side and able to compare them.
I would love to see them come here to the Dallas area and show them the great hospitality that us Texans are known for!
Also give them a chance to meet several members of the 928 community that are well known...
I'm sure Roger (owner of the well known 928sRus and owner of over a dozen different 928s including some very interesting one-offs) and others would give them some great memories!
It would be great to see if they can add Dallas on their trip itinerary!

After nearly a week, they are in Estonia.
Problems encoutered and solved:
- Driver window in Poland.
- Fuel pump and filter in Poland.
They were in Riga, Latvia, birthplace of Anatole Lapine, the chief designer of the 928 (and many others interesting cars).

From LA, they could easily swing up into (and through) the southern Rocky Mountains.
And there's TONS of choices between Houston and NYC for some of the best roads in the country.
I do agree with you about the Rockies. I spent ten years of my life there, driving every route.
It just depends on if they're willing to meander (scenic), or hammer down (point A to point B)...
