I wanted to introduce myself. I have been lurking on the forum since September when I purchased my first Porsche, an 88 928S4. I had been thinking about a fun car for weekends and cars shows with my sons for a while and stumbled across what appeared to be a nice looking 928 on eBay one night. The car appealed to me because it was located in WI, only a 3 hour drive for me. My wife and I agreed on an amount and put in our bid. I was stunned when we won for our lowest bid! I really didn't think it would happen and although I had done some homework it really was an impulse purchase. The seller turned out to be a really nice guy who had taken good care of the car for the last decade. I got a decent service history and original manuals etc. So far it has been a great car for me. It is 27 years old and I am starting to see plenty of 27 year old car problems but so far nothing too bad. I have been breathing on the car a little. New hood liner, some clean up on the engine, new hood and hatch struts, new stereo, etc. I also went ahead and had the TB and WP done along with a PK tensioner. The previous owner had warned me it would be due soon so when I caught a TB warning light, I didn't mess around. This car has really brought back a joy to driving I had lost. I have been lucky enough to have company cars my entire professional life and for the most part they have been very average. This coupled with my first career in the car rental industry had really combined to make cars a commodity to me with driving as a means to an end. The 928 really has changed that!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.
I've lived in Champaign and worked in both. I'm right in the middle now. My challenge being downstate is to find a good 928 mechanic. I've got a good guy so far the local PCA recommended but he is not a 928 expert.

My thoughts exactly safulop!
YT1, don't let a car with nice paint like that roll into the lake!!
I am by the way only a little West of you when I am not traveling for professional reasons which is pretty much 90% of the time...
If you are near Bloomington, I could swing by some day. The only good coffee place in Central Illinois, The Coffee Hound, is there. :-)
