When to use teflon tape?

I've installed an accusump and now an external tranny cooler on my track car.
Both systems required use of a combination of metric threaded components, NPT threaded components, and AN threaded components, made from steel or aluminum.
I haven't been using teflon tape on the joints because it hasn't been called for anywhere. The Setrab instructions specifically state to not use anything with their fittings.
Before I fire all these systems up, I'd like to know if there is any situation where teflon tape would be used in hydraulic lines/fittings that are transporting hot oil. I would prefer not to have a geyser of hot oil in my engine compartment or on my exhaust.
Thanks.

if you want to use tape dont,
instead use Loctite PTFE non setting pipe sealant it works great and can be used on the water pump bolts

The problem with Teflon tape is that if you leave any shread of it hanging over the very end of the fitting, this may be cut off and become a part of your oiling system. Since the chances are that your Accusump is plumbed after the oil filter, this can be a real problem when that chunk of Teflon tape migrates to an orifice and plugs it up.
Pipe threads almost always need some sort of sealant. AN surfaces are designed to seal without any additional sealant. Any place that has an "o-ring", like your adaptors to the Setrab cooler, also need no additional sealant.
I quit using Teflon tape, 20+ years ago, on anything except pipe threads on PVC water fittings.
Buy a tube of Loctite 574 and use a thin layer on your pipe fittings....they will never leak.

574 is good material.
Teflon tape, no.
