Default 86.5 parts into 85?

Hey all,
I've decided to part out my 86.5 auto. What parts should I keep for my 85 build? I know the engine had a bit more horsepower and some other bits but is any of it interchangeable with a MY 85?

Thanks much,
Davis

Maybe the jumper post cover?

You may want to search through this site some. Putting an '86 into an earlier car is a lot of work. I've asked a similar question in past threads as have others...

Oh no, I wasn't planning on putting anything major into the 85. I was just wondering if something like the cams or the heads swapped over and would be worth using. The 85 is already a fairly complete car; I was just going to swap a few bits if there would be a noticeable gain in performance.

Thanks,
Davis

These are US models? I'm pretty sure the motor is the same, '85-'86. Exhaust, suspension, brakes and jack points are the differences...maybe a few other things I've forgotten.

Cams and heads are the same, so no benefits unless one set is in better condition from wear or corrosion.

86.5 is pretty much the same as 85-86, with updated suspension, exhaust, and ABS. Engine is almost entirely the same. If you look in the PET, you'll see the handful of engine pieces that aren't interchangeable. They're the ones with VIN ranges on them.

Check Ken Laurisen (PORKEN) website. There is a list of the parts differences between the 85, 86 and 86.5... There are quite a few if I remember correctly. Ken is probably the best man to answer this question...

There is a difference in the cam cover standoff/bolt system between the two engines.

Keep the brake and suspension related parts, but also I would be looking at a long list of spares and convenience parts like having a spare intake for powder coating or whatever reducing swap down time.
