Default Help With Plastic Pad in Footwell

I'm in the final stages of installing new carpet on my 86. I am drawing a blank as to exactly where/how the plastic pad goes. See the picture. I know it goes near the gas pedal. Anyone with a good picture of this piece installed that they could post would be appreciated.

No pic, sorry. But it goes on the TT tunnel. All the way forward to the firewall.

The pic is correctly oriented. The "tab" thingy goes at the top. The upper edge of the grooves line up with the top of the gas pedal, more or less.

Hope this helps.

I was 90 degrees out. No wonder I couldn't get it to work. I guess it is there to keep your right foot from wearing out the carpet. Thanks.

Make sure you place that Forward facing tab (small one on the left) in your pic UNDER the Peddle mount and not on top, else if it's an auto the Kick down switch will not depress correctly.

Thanks for the tip. It's a 5 speed but I figured those tabs must engage something.

Tough spot to get a decent photo. I hope this helps as I just did this myself after installing my new Robb Bud carpet. Fabulous stuff.

In the foreground is my favorite tool to find the stupid screw holes.

Good luck.

Yes, that does help. I've got 2 out of 3 of the screw locations identified. Like I said above, I had the part rotated 90 degrees and with that orientation the screw holes were close but just not right. I'm good now. Thanks to everyone.

Amusingly, RHD cars have it too.. in the passenger footwell, exactly where it is in LHD cars
