Is an early '78 worth any more than a later one? I have #0089, 0227 and my 1979, do the earlier serial numbers mean that the cars are worth any more than others? At the moment all 3 are in similar condition and I am considering modifying one of them but don't want to mess with something "special." My '79 has a history that makes me smile, so I don't really want to change it other than to fix the seats and maybe re-spray it the same color. The other two were neglected for years until a sucker, me, came along to save them. They are all now running, all are 5-speed and are non-sunroof cars.

I think all the early cars should be preserved. Particularly 5 speed non-sunroof, because people are looking for those, and most will want them to be original. But early vins aren't worth a whole lot extra unless they are early Euro '78 vins, as the US models didn't come out until later; so they aren't as early as they appear to be.

There is also difference between early '78 ROW vs US model. ROW cars are around 6 months earlier than first US model. Once VIN gets to above 0100 it makes little difference then if it's 1000 or 2000.
Though condition is almost everything.

Number 089 is silver with a black interior. The front sears have been redone black and tan but I will likely take them back to black.
Number 227 is brown with a tan cloth interior.
Neither are Euro (unless I am mistaken) and at least now, neither have the Pascha interior. Number 89 does appear to have euro headlights and both have the headlight **** instead of the US speaker ****. I don't know if the **** is connected to anything, I just haven't checked.

ROW '78 0011 papers and piece of metal where VIN is stamped is worth at least 20K to right people. Luckily that car is in little better condition than that. Try to buy it for under 100K in its current condition, see Jim laugh himself to death and buy it from his estate for 120K.

No Chevy conversion, already have a Chevy, a Ford... Thinking minor body modifications, maybe a turbo... I like the cars that you know have been updated but not quite sure how.
