Cross Brace Alternative
Found some nice off-the-shelf parts to assemble an all aluminum strut brace. Only custom part required is the mounting plates (represented here by the 3d-printed part for test fit). Sent the files over to the waterjet shop this afternoon, should have it mounted by the end of the week.
Thoughts? I kind of like the black look, but same supplier has the tube in polished as well.

Hmmm.... Hood gap adjuster! Nice!
Looks great. Are you reinforcing the mountings to the body at the same time? The original brackets depend on the boltup to the crossbrace to keep from bending vertically under compression load. Will be interested to see how the original mounting brackets fare without the support.

I like it. I also like black though I can see some preferring polished. Is it powdercoat?
Would be extra convenient if were compatible with the a/c valve mounted on the crosspiece, or else shipped along with a solution for that.
I currently have the 928SP carbon fiber bar, and sourced a machined/powdercoated aftermarket motorcycle bracket to deal with the incompatible diameters.
A laser etched or machined logo would be cool, model designations, manufacturer script if free of TM constraints....may not be worth the effort but it seems like it would be tough to find someone to do a good job of that on the round surface.
Actually, is it all tapered round tubing, or is it oval? I think the latter would add an interesting look. And depending on the thread, would allow easier adjustment with a wrench.
I previously had a Schnell brand carbon fiber (look) bar that had heim jonits on the ends. I liked the adjustability, but not the faux finish. The fittings at the ends were oriented to mount with a cross bolt that passed between two vertical plates on the mounting plate. Not sure why.

Its anodized a matte black. its pretty hefty drawn aluminum tube with LH and RH threads to make adjustments quick and easy. Rod ends are also black anodized, but they have been bright tanked first, so they are a more shiny black finish.
I am having the waterjet shop cut a stack of the mounting tabs if anyone wants a set.

I like it, and it just might work better for those of us running charge pipes down the side.
