It's amazing what a little underside cleaning can do. Look at those blue wheel-wells...nice!

What's up next, mechanical stuff? Looks like the waterpump sprung a leak.

Keep the updates coming.

Brian.

More random survey pictures- William took the car to have the chassis steam cleaned, best money you can spend early in a 928 project:

This car has great bones, love the interior:

Is it possible to install a radiator upside down?

The interior condition for the mileage is remarkable.

That is funny.. you'd need to install the bleed nipple and drain plug on the wrong corners.. they're separate screw-in parts, so I guess it could be done

(from memory the end tanks are the same on each end, as long as they're both either the non-cooler or oil-cooler types).

I'm confused in part because I have seen variations of that green part number sticker on the bottoms of many early radiators, but not on what would have been the top. Maybe it got repaired and the core flipped over? No idea. Will follow up when I have the radiator out.

Sadly it can be done. My '79 Euro arrived with a radiator installed upside down as you described, and it was leaky to boot. When I had the end caps replaced, I had the core flipped and took care of the related issues.

On my car the harness had been cut and the leads lengthened to reach the "new" location for the sensor.

I thought the underside of car would be same color as the upper. Is this only true with white cars?

Dunno what's 'correct' on the underside, especially the early cars.

Did manage to get back out to the garage under cover of darkness this evening, pulled the radiator. Temp gauge is in the right place, so the rad must have been re-tanked at some point and the core flipped.

I don't ever recall seeing a radiator tank losing it's black color- I thought the plastic was black all the way through (?)

Someone didn't exactly sweat the details on crimping all the tabs back down:

For what it's worth those tabs are never utilized. Dont know why
