Contact Knickerbocker Auto Transport. He is a legit, knowledgeable auto transport broker who I would definitely use again. He transported my Ferrari 308GT4 from CA to New York using Plycar, in my particular case. Good price, no issues at all. No affiliation.

What are you looking to ship? How good of a car?

Open transport is pretty cheap, enclosed costs more, full "race car" trailer enclosed (Horseless, Pilot, that kind) cost even more.
But the care and protection are "what you pay for".

Another question:
How fast/soon? If you need it right away, it will cost more than if you can wait.

Some people recommend U-ship. I've never used it, so this is purely a "That's what they say".

And why do you have 2 threads on this?

I got a quote today from DAS, D.C. area to SoCal, for a 2009 Civic, $1400 door to door, for whatever that's worth.

But for Porsche, it's more due to PAT or Porsche Added Tax

Here is my Yelp review of "door to door transport". Yelp has a lot of bogus reviews, but mine is "Mark A". They brokered a quick trip for my 928 on an open transport. 740 dollars. This was a recent trip. They seem like great folks. They have gotten really crappy reviews on yelp, but I can only speak for my own good experience with them. The only reason I tried them was because someone I worked with had used them with success and recommended them to me. Again, no affiliation, but I did use their broker service successfully. I think I still have their phone number someplace.

What are you going to pull the trailer with? I rented a U-Haul car-open-hauler in CA and hauled my GT home to CO with it just fine. Pulled it with my F250. Worked just fine, and wasn't too expensive, as I recall.

Thanks for the responses. Based on the cost, inconvenience and risk of shipping, I am now looking at having some work done to make it roadworthy in St. Louis and then driving it home. I have the time and it could be fun.

I can't recommend Reliable Carriers highly enough. Shipped my 928 enclosed from Louisville to Horicon, WI and then from Horicon to Clemson, SC. Drivers are careful and considerate. My only issue was some delays due to the remoteness of Horicon and when they could get trucks up that way.

Having moved cars and trucks around for my own and for work the past 15 years, I've had the best results with Plycar out of New York.

They are no nonsense, and priced fair. They also pick up when they say, and don't drag things out for weeks.

Liftgate service, white glove service, and fair prices. What else can one ask for?
