I would like to install a battery cutoff switch, more for maintenance purposes than security.
Can anyone give me an example of installation location and the type / brand of switch you used?
Thanks ... Gary
Why not just disconnect the ground strap at the back? Some cars have a large "wing" bolt/screw that can be done by hand, while other have just a bolt. If you have the regular hex-bolt, it's simple to swap it with a wing style, or get a plastic piece to convert it.
I believe it's an M8x1.25 bolt. You can get one on Amazon for a few bucks.

I am getting ready to change out all 53 relays in the CE.
It was strongly suggested that i replace the relays one at a time and restart/check the systems between relay installs.
Having a cutoff switch should substantially shorten the time involved in that chore.
Do you know of any drawbacks to installing one?
Thanks

How about using a jumper cable to bridge the battery to the car and simply clip/unclip one of the jumper cable connection? Why add one more electrical component to your car for just a rare use?
Thanks for the link.
I had searched but all the topics i found were concerning solid state diconnects for racing.
This is exactly the type of cutoff i was thinking of. Placement near the battery box also. Very helpful.

I have heard about the ground wingnut - never seen one. Its also rumoured that the thread is M8x1.25 - mine is 5/16 UNC - check before you plan on changes there. I have a battery isolator as pictured above, and despite being sceptical, it works fine. My charge leads bypass it so I can disconnect the system from the battery, but still charge it easily.
