That's a real beauty, what a find. And I agree about that ride home! Fuel lines and those old ball joints, wow. Seems to me that car has found a really good home. I hope to see it sometime, and/or the '80 with the tartan upholstery, another beauty.

Something I really need to do - have to get organized and start a thread on each. They all have something "unique" about them, and all Euro cars..

Yup...spent a little time trying to find a fire extinguisher for the ride home...

Congrats!

Interesting story: I had been looking daily for several years and I had just given up trying to find a light green OB car (even found one that had been repainted from light to dark green and was considering that) and bought Rixters "Nachtgrun" (1 of 1 made - loved the combo of the dark green and grey green and the way it's optioned) when it became available a couple weeks before.

Then this car shows up posted as a side note on Facebook by Panos "Pete" Krassas (the famous greek 928 specialist!) on a mountain 'fun run'. I immediately had Pete get me in contact with the PO through Facebook (thanks Pete! - I definitely owe you BIG) and turned out he was considering selling! We made a deal, he met me halfway on Sunday outside Binghamton and here we are...sometimes it pays to follow up on whatever thread of a lead you get on a car you want...

BTW, (that was a fun discussion with my wife: 'didn't you just get a green 928?' - 'yes, honey, but THIS is the green one I've been looking for...) Her attitude is 'Get what you want, just don't get us bankrupt!'...she knows I work hard for our family and allows me to play a bit..

I plan on going to some events with the car whenever I have time (Three kids in travel hockey and soccer and I work a LOT). It still needs a bunch of things but drives great and the Bob Budd restored interior is way cool and comfortable. (really need the safety items addressed ASAP, though). It has over 100k and a currently on odometer so I'm certainly not worried about driving the car as it should be, as long as its insured properly.

The Tartan car is really cool and a true 32k mile car (sits on original P6's!) - runs/drives but needs brakes/fuel lines/ball joints, safe wheel/tires - the p6's and 15 phonies are getting cleaned up and going into storage) it also puffs smoke like the magic dragon so I have to get the time and $$ to get that straight also - I believe either a broken ring or valve seals but that car on back burner for time being. I'm out of room in the garage so it's either garage lift time, or sell a car or two....ugh can't believe I just said that...

Do you plan to remove the US lenses and indicators?
Or are they still mandatory?

I plan on removing them whenever it gets painted. They are ugly as hell and the lens is cracked on the rears (not sure where I would find new lenses - may have to change over to a 'larger' style as a replacement that would cover the site) Any suggestions on what to do?

The paint is still currently 'presentable' as is - it's an older repaint and is a slight shade off of the original color in jambs and engine bay (I will need a few things touched up (need new drivers drip rail, passenger drip rail color is 'off' some deeper scratches, etc.) - need to find a guy who can match and blend a few spots. I plan to drive it so for now the current paint will do. It certainly draws attention as is (from even the toll booth operators on the way home...)

I think finding a rear bumper cover without fogs may be an issue (it has some splits in it around the edges) - what countries in Europe did not require fogs? Curious where this car was first delivered.

CONGRATS!!! That is so cool. The more I see those green ones the better they look...I love that shade...like the old 7up bottles.

Looks very nice. I think I would've covered the pod in cork leather instead of the black, but to each their own.

The PO wanted to go with original color scheme as far as colors go but he did tell me that in hindsight he would have done Leather and not vinyl - the price through Budd was the same.

Depends on what you are after. The early cork cars all had a black pod. Cork would look great too, but if you are going after the original look, black is the pod color.

Did you get this from a guy who has a close twin to this? Just wondering how many 928s in this color combo are in CT, as I know of 2. Good luck!

No that's Andrew's car - can't remember his rennlist handle. From what I remember his is original paint, low mileage and just beautiful. Automatic, however, and from what I remember he put in the Black Pascha interior from another car. The only other car I've seen similar to mine is the famous Kermit but that was an automatic (and an incredible unicorn for mileage and condition) as well. I have never seen another light green metallic with 5 speed and cork pascha, but that of course does not mean they do not exist. The PO of my car said he saw an '84 5 speed light green metallic 5 speed in Germany of all things. Must have been special ordered as those colors from what I know were not available in '84 as regular order.

Plus no sunroof and no side rub strips to boot! VERY Nice...!

Definitely eliminate those extra side marker lights when you paint.

Congrats on an excellent new acquisition and a great compliment to your growing collection...

Love the green paint - probably my favorite 928 color. Great find!
