Yeah that's a great photo.
Those might be the only wheels that actually look better than the original cup rims.

Funny. I told this to my wife when I first saw the spy photos of it. Mercedes appears to be more serious about their GT's than Porsche holding the title for theirs.

It's funny looking. The proportions are wrong-looking. (I know why they're not wrong, but they're still wrong-looking.)
That's the outside. I don't particularly care about the outside. The inside though ... is ... hideous. I would call it design inspired by "iPad in vomit."
What's interesting to me is why Porsche needs to go to small turbo and hybrid-turbo motors to, supposedly, meet EU carbon regs while Mercedes can continue to offer big carbon-spewing V8s.
And yeah, the "hot v" configuration seems back-asswards but it is really good for a turbo application.
A Mercedes dealership that is right next to my local Porsche dealership is nearing completion. Come Spring or Summer I think I will stop in and take one of these weird looking vomity-iPad thingys for a test drive: you never know if your gonna like something until you try it. Twice.

Drove in the "camouflaged" prototype 3 yrs ago in here in Vegas. Or was it 4? All rigged out with electronics..wiring..and plastic shells for interior trim parts. Wouldnt let me have a go at it though 928 guy on the board here from Coventry.

Porsche of the Future?
I know, I know. We keep hearing these rumors of the return of a revamped and redesigned 928.
Recent piece in Business Insider, by Ben Zhang -- just caught it online.
He implies having some insight into a credible boardroom source saying it might be on the drawing board again.
Or maybe just wishful thinking.

I would think they have their hands full with the upcoming 2nd gen Panamera, and the all electric sedan they already announced.
But then again, you never know...

As always I question why anyone in the 928 fan club would think this way.
In no way shape or form will anything "new" be a "modern 928".
It will just be a shared platform with some Audi / Porsche with parts bin bits all over. An engine from the Panamera / Cayenne, and most likely a hybrid in the mix too.
This is exactly the opposite of what a 928 is.
Wake me up when Porsche annouces a clean sheet design, two door GT that will be set to replace the 911. At that point I'll sit up and pay attention to the true heir to the 928 throne.
Until then.....Meh. Call it anything except a 928.

As much as I like the 928, why would I be expected to love a new one?
The older 928 was classy, but had some roughness around the edges. Especially the growl of the engine and exhaust. None of that would be present on a new car.
This about all the reasons you love your 928. Now, really, would the new one measure up?

Let's face it, Porsche is stuck in it's place within the VW grand plan ... why would the corporation approve something that isn't a high-volume shared platform, just takes sales away from Audi and the other brands.
Chance of them ever again doing a "clean-sheet" new product is close to nil. The future is shared platforms using what they can rummage from the corporate parts pin and sell in large numbers. I.e. Macan.
The world's most profitable nameplate and the parent second only to Toyota in world-wide volume, it's a whole different world now.

I don't understand why so many 928 aficionados are always looking for 'the next 928'.
Our 928 is the one and only - we don't want a new bastardized one.

Hacker, can you petition IB to add a forum for vaporware/photoshop future Porsche models so all pictures of the 'next 928' can be posted there instead? Maybe put it under General Discussion?

Whoa, whoa, whoa there fellows.
No one is going to take your cars and replace them with newly designed 928 hybrids.
If there is ever a new 928 designed, maybe it will credible.
Entertain the possibility.
Perhaps, and maybe this could be perceived as a positive, if a new 928 hits the road it could create more prestige and notoriety for our cars in general.
That could make you wake up one morning with a car that has appreciated in value.
Is that terrible or tolerable?
