Default 87 to 95 GEBA Water Pump "Special"

Unfortunately the GEBA is now the only choice in the 87 to 95 cars unless you want to pay $1134 for a Porsche version - not many do!!!

One GOOD thing about the GEBA is the price - $279.95 928srus Buy them before the price goes up as I am sure it will as eggs are eggs!!
As there does not appear to much interest in the GEBA WP I will keep the special price until midnight Sunday 10th May 2015. After that it will be $369.

Carl (928 MS) sells the gold plated version for $695 but he has a racing habit to satisfy.
928 International sells them for $395.

My GEBA comes with a Porsche gasket

Ricardo we still can supply the Laso with the plastic impeller for the early cars 77 to 86. If you use a PKtensioner you can also use the early Laso on the 87 to 95 cars. Another benefit of the PKT.

I think the Beck Arnley 131-2372 WP is still available but not sure if it is a good pump or not.

Yes they do but they are rebuilt by the same company that rebuilt all the failures we experienced. I will not sell a rebuilt water pump - period.

Porsche wants $623 for the Rebuild

So what happened to all the effort put into making a 'safe' LASO pump with the plastic impellor? Is the GEBA similarly "safe"?

I'm starting to think one of my IRA's might be better invested in 'stock' like these pumps, plus fuel pumps and some of the other pieces that are moving off the easily-available list. Rob's been hoarding parts for years now. Maybe he's on to something...

My motto: Get as much as you can before the hoarders get there.

Looks like I'll need one of these pumps in my lifetime.

Since I'm one of the people that believe thousands and thousands of dollars would have been saved if no one in the aftermarket ever made a reproduction or rebuilt a factory water pump (how many hundreds of engines have been ruined by migrating impellers or bearings going bad?), I have not even looked at one of these GEBA water pumps.

Metal impeller or plastic?

Noob question...

Why does a porktensioner allow you to use a LASO pump?

Greg - Metal
Fred - Not enough volume to make it commercially viable especially when all PKT fitted cars can use the cheaper earlier WP. So volume of the later style dwindles and the early increased two fold.
Prescott - The only difference between the early and late pumps is the fitting of the idler roller, carrier and strengthening bracket - the pumps other than that are identical. So if you have a PKT which does not use the idler pulley, carrier or bracket you can use the cheaper of the two. At one point a while ago the later pump was cheaper than the early and we used that one with a PKT.

Metal impellers.....does anyone, besides me, think that is a huge "step back"?

I thought that Laso had quit making all 928 water pumps....

Very interesting.
