Default TT suspension

As part of my winter GTS projects I started off with replacing the TT brgs. Well as things do with 928s the project has escalated somewhat in that Im fully into doing the clutch, TT shaft, TT brgs etc.

Tonight the TT is on the garage floor awaiting the new Constantine brgs, Greg Brown TT shaft, everything associated with the clutch will be new including the intermediate shaft by GB.

Many thx to Greg for all his input as well to Colin for his very detailed instruction.

thx Dave.......the linkage will be fully refurbished

For those interested the hardest part on my car was moving the shaft forward sufficiently to clear the gbox 'fingers'..........I may give a blow by blow tomorrow.

indeed it is Colin.......to think these parts have never moved for 23 years since the factory built the car is quite surreal

Those photos make me appreciate the TT is a big piece of metal, really substantial looking.

Clean the wheel wells while you're under there.

Great job Malcolm!

This will be good to keep your beautiful GTS on the road for another 23 years... At least!

I haven't been there yet but surely will need to some day.

Keep up the good work.

Don't want to throw a wet blanket on things but I will.I would be very careful using bungee cords to support something as heavy as that tt. I had one break on me and its really no fun.

thx Luc.........after all these years of lying on cold concrete I am so so grateful to have the lift.

thx Bertrand.........the project is no worse than the MMs IMHO other than the pieces are a little bigger and heavier.

The bungee cords were only there for the photo op and my arms as I work solo. I would use much stronger straps nxt time

The flywheel was removed for refurb and found the RMS has been seeping.

Here's a good thread on my misadventures from a while back, with Greg's methodology for packing and installation in post # 28:

And some finer points on depth of installation in post 18, here:

Mine had the same problem when I replaced the torque converter bearings and the TT with a rebuilt 928 Interantional unit. This was 2004 and at about 110k miles.
Take a close look on the RMS, mine was installed slightly tilted by the factory and wore quicker at on one spot. This caused a smeal leak.
make sure the new RMS is installed correctly and this will be the last time you'll see it...
