stock plug wires are way too expesive at 150 bucks and up
does any one make the little screw connectors so that I could make my own
wire is cheap and i have the time
From: Ventura California, where the girls are so fine.
I found a set of make your own plugs at pep boys. It pretty much had the wire that you cut to length, it had the spark plug boots that were a little over a 90 degree so that it snapped onto the plug, and then I searched through the boxes to find the distributor end that would work. I had to do a little searching through boxes though, but I did find the correct ends for the distributor side. It still cost me around 80 bucks or so because the do it yourself wire was the 8.8mm and was pretty pricey.
I used that setup for a while and then was able to pick up a used set of 928 wires for cheap. With two sets of used wires I was able to make one good set out of them.
Most people just look at the exterior of their wires and think they look good, but a lot of times the screw-in connector will corrode and deteriorate off, leaving a bad connection. A few of my wires were like that. I finally was able to put a set together that ohmed out perfect.
Autozone carries this product in different colors - Red,Yellow, Blue and Black.
2 types of boot ends along w/2 different connectors.
Price - 35.00 -
The only thing you'll need to do is pick up an extra distibutor wire for the second coil. They usually have single ones for sale. Not sure if your Weissach has dual coils.
This is what I used on my shark and they work great.
I have a 87 model s4 euro and am trying to make up a set of new leads - does anyone know where I can get the small copper ferrules that swage onto the plug end of the HT leads which the deep well BERU plug caps then screw onto?

Okay, whos traken over D67?. Did I post that pic?. Twilight zone .........
Thanks for the reply - I have 8mm high spec wire but I need the little screw in things - the kit I have comes with 90degree or straight fittings but they do not fit onto the BERU deep well plug caps on my car..........any ideas?
I made my sp wires. I picked out the Taylor Spiral Pro 8mm.
This wire is an upgrade to the OEM because it is shielded and
fiberglass core. (OEM in solid steel strand core) www.kingsborne.com has the Beru copper thread sleeve,
dist cap boot, and most important the sp boot/resistor. The sp wires have
very little resitance. Porsche designed the sp boot to contain the resistance, not the wires!
So ohm your sp boot, if out of spec you must replace the boot $15.00 ea.!! Anyway be aware the 8mm wires do not fit the 7mm copper sleeves. I stripped the outer insulation and crimped hard to make the end work. Then covered the sp wire to boot with sp shrink wrap.
Be prepared it time to make one wire. The end cost was $300.00.
unscrew the tops from a spark plug and they screw on to the distributor leads and then the wires push right on. I think the plugs tops i used were from a bosch plug.
Let me ask a stupid question. How do you attach new wires to the old boots? and can you reuse the distributor cap ends if they are in OK shape? can someone explain the procedure since I need new wires and would like to pursue this option since it seems like a relatively inexpensive one - rather than spending $$$$ on expensive aftermarket wires.
It is my understanding that you cannot use the boots from the OEM wires. I could be wrong. I tried "breaking down" my old set and all i did was destroy the wire and boot end.
