Default Who was the original owner of your car?

Seems that the original owners of our cars must have been special in some way or another. Do you know the story of the person that bought yours?

The only interesting thing I know about my original owner (OO?) was his name: Jafir Jafir, MD. Oddly, my service book has stamps for two deliveries, one on Dec 31,1986 in Chicago, another one several months later in New Orleans. He owned it for about ten years.

My 79 was first purchased by John Menard, owner of the hardware store chain.

I would really like to know who was the original owner of my car. I imported my car from the USA but have no clue who was the original owner.

Is there any way to find this using the vin number?

Cheers

mine was originally owned by a guy named Mr. Goodsen, up just outside of Chicago, however he sold the car after his son Joel had an incident with it near a lake. The guy who next bought was a P. Anthony Montana, down in Florida near Miami. It was later sold out of an estate sale, and ultimately ended up with me.

Mine was bought new in '83 by Tower Mfg. Co. in Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca. from Atlas Porsche Audi. Then in '84, sold to Robert Welbourn, also in Rancho PV. I suspect the same guy just shifting around assets.

Not quite as exciting as Tony Montana and/or Jafir Jafir, King of Zamunda ^^^^

Manual GTS owner was 60 years old male architect in Berlin when he bought it. He was around 70 when lack of service killed engine at 154k km's. Car had seen service only twice during his ownership. If engine wouldn't have died TT rear clamp was loose and it would have gone soon also.

Automatic GTS owner was very likely female who owned parfume shop in Augsburg. Must have sold lots of Chanel 5 to pay for it. She seem to have gone to Switzerland to ski during winters and also played golf. She had car over 15 years and 200k km's. She took it local Skoda dealer for belt change where they killed the engine.

Mine was originally purchased by the construction project manager over the Long Beach Blue Line lite rail project, the 73 toll road project in Orange County, Ca, and the runways and buildings at DIA east of Denver. Project bonus check for the rail project went directly to the Porsche dealer in Pasadena. I have all that stuff, including the cancelled check, in the car's history file.

I bought the car from him, sight unseen, while working with him on a project in the Philippines. Car was in storage near Denver, from where it was recovered, mech maint brought current, etc. drove it to LA in fall 1997 with a bit less than 22k on the meter.

The ongoing saga is documented here regularly.

Mine isn't too special, but I do know of the original owner, Dr. P. Weiss, D.O. (via a leasing company), near Youngstown, OH. The guy I bought the car from (Dr. Weiss's neighbor) says he kept the car until his death, then his wife sold it to the neighbor's family, where it moved around a couple of times.

With the close ownership circle, I was lucky enough to get the original window sticker, certificate of origin, and the original insurance binder. All waiting to get laminated, framed, and hung in the garage.

The original owner of my car was a Chiropractor in Sarasota, FL. The second owner was Skip Caray, the former announcer for the Atlanta Braves (and the son of Harry Caray, the long-time announcer for the Chicago Cubs).

I believe that the third owner was a baseball player in the Atlanta Braves system.

I contacted the Chiroprator and sent him some photos of the car and he remembers it very well. His assistant relayed a few stories of riding around in it while the Doctor owned it.

Also sent a letter to Chip Caray (current announcer for the Braves) about his father's "red rocket" with lots of detail about its history over the years and how it had been maintained during my ownership of the car, and included information about where he could see photos of the car online.

It was lots of fun tracking down the history of the car and sharing it with the other owners.

No idea but he threw a rod somewhere in its past. No real records or documentation before I got it.
