Gone but not forgotten
Today I sold my 1986 944 NA. It was the flicker that lit my passion for Porsche. It was the first car I ever rebuilt the engine on. My family and I had many a fun and happy mile behind the wheel. But then I found my 928s. Her curves and power were something of a different character. I have found myself torn over the last few months with the need to sell one of my Porsche's. I can see myself behind the wheel of another 944 some day. So tonight my wife and I went out for a cruise in the 928. All the reasons why were answered. My loving wife was comfortable, I had fun racing from lights against a Acura luxury sedan defending the 928's honor, and that knowledge that if I wanted to we could be doing 150 at a moments push of the throttle. Yes I will miss my 944. Hopefully the young airman from Luke AFB will enjoy the black 944 too and carry on the flame.

At least you won't get hit with cookies in the back of your head anymore
You'll get another 944 some day, or even a 968 if there are some still around. They are fun light cars, but the 928 is just so much more.

nice post; amazing how we get attached to our cars, Porsches in particular.

And that young airman will eventually be lusting for twice the cylinders. You have done well, my son, you have obeyed the force and planted the seed of future shark ownership for him.

No that particular characteristic is unique to the 944. For those that don't know, if you toss a animal cracker out the sunroof of a 944 it will swirl around on the spoiler and come back and hit you in the head. As long as you are doing 55-60 mph!

My first intimate encounter with a Porsche. This is a 944 that I did an overall paint on, I learned every inch of the exterior of this car. It was a real nice car. Although I worked at a mid-par shop at the time, I did my best. The after pic is fresh after the paint, the finish is virgin, never had to wet sand or buff. I really liked this car. pics are circa 1988.
