I'll share this in public, since they likely have more than one, but Eckler's has the early (78-80) holddown on sale for $11.

EDIT: Assuming that PET is right about this. If you have the 'stronger' battery option (not that that battery isn't long gone....) they used the later -02 clamp with that option. I have 2 spares if you need a later clamp, I think they're $15 from Mark. But he has a half price sale and I don't.

T if you dont mind, please post a picture of your battery box with the lid open looking down the rear side of the battery,
this will make it easy to tell what you need

Stan, Trailered JP up to Victoria yesterday to have the front bumper cover fixed and resprayed from that dear strike at 3rd Coast. Might possibly do an autocross next weekend and want to make sure that big battery is secure. Maybe someone else can post that pic ? TIA T

You trust Eckler's more than you trust me?

PET says that 911 611 209 00 is the right clamp for 78-81 928s as well.

Here's a pic of one in a '79, in post #9:

So, Rob & PET say 911 611 209 00 is correct (first two pics below) Roger & Gutterboy say 911 611 209 02 is the one. (Posts 4 & 2 in above link) So is it door # 1 (00) or door # 2 (02) ? TIA T

If it is door # 2 then you can take it of "just peachy" and try it. This way you will know whether it works or you need the other one.

He meant Just Beachy. Too many fine 928s to choose from. Is there a hold-down in your blue 928 that could be test-swapped?

(replies in italics) He meant Just Beachy. Thx for getting Bilal up to speed Too many fine 928s to choose from. Thx again. Is there a hold-down in your blue 928 that could be test-swapped? Yes, plan is to pick up JP from auto body next week with battery clamp in hand (so need to order now) then head up to autocross in San Antonio. IIRC door # 1 (00) should work. T

Bilal, I know that you desperately wanted the Cobalt Blue GT on ebay as a gift but that's not happening. Plan is to ship you the extra battery clamp that will not be used so that you will have a spare. This was supposed to be a surprise Rob, Appears you are correct (again) Just called @ 928 Intl and Tom said clamps ending in 02 are the early and 00 are the later. Thx again. T

T when I looked at the battery it looked like it would take the long curved hold down,
the shorter one appears to be less secure of a clamp

Thanks for looking Stan. Tom at 928 Intl said the one ending in 00 is the correct part and that they are NIS so ordered one from Rob's source. Thank you Rob. T
