Coca-Cola Coke Car Resurrection Thread - Now for sale
I thought that I would start my own thread on my newly acquired CocaCola car. This car has quite a history. You can read about much of it here: 928 TRACK CAR FOR SALE
Basically, the car used to look like this:
Then the owner previous to me had a bit of an accident and crashed it mostly on the front right corner: This was the aftermath:
Today, we got it on the rack and started pulling it out. I've never witnessed this kind of stuff before. I was shocked and awed and what can be done on a good rack. Brian (the master) basically studied it for a bit and started pulling here and there. Occasionally beating the various parts with a hammer and a drift to help relieve stresses. There were a couple times you could actually hear the pitch of the metal change and the stress came out. It was amazing!
At the end of the day we had it about 98% there.
Pretty much next step will be to fit a new fender and hood (already procured) and get it to fire up properly.
I'll continue to update as I have things to report.

Really glad to see this happening and appreciate the serious effort involved in getting it done. This car has many admirers, with more than a few having had the opportunity to see and enjoy it during its track days.

NICE!, I read about this car in the other thread, and thought it didn't really look like a terminal crash.
I'm glad you were able to take control of the situation and give this car a second life.
(I used to rebuild totals, a good frame shop is your best friend)

So glad that this car ended up with you, AO! It looks like you have the needed resources to put it back together properly and return it to the track.
That first photo you posted is from November 3, 2007 in the garage at Daytona during Rennsport Reunion III. So almost exactly 7 years ago from now is when that picture was taken. I had just recently done a ressurection of the engine, which is the engine you now have. It was rebuilt in 2010 and only had somewhere around 30 hours of track time when I sold it last December.
You're going to have a lot fun with that car!

Thats pretty much what I was feeling!
Curious about the process - would love to have seen first-hand how its done. Did it involve welding any tabs/shackles to the chassis to pull on? Or bolt them on?
Will the chassis require any strengthening/welding after finishing on the rack?
