Panorama magazine
"I love my 911 Carrera, but reading Ferry Porsche's own words recored in his autobiography 'We at Porsche' last summer made me realize that Ferry Porsche and Dr. Ernst Fuhrmann's ultimate expression was truly the 928."
The editor replied that he agreed. I posted the entire note in another thread. The context was whether the Panamera was a real Porsche.

The thing to remember is that there are lots of red-headed stepchildren in the Porsche (car) family. The 356 itself was designed as a black sheep, the first prototypes were mid-engined but that wasn't practical for production. Then when the 914 came along it was was the new black sheep. And now the Cayman is in the same position that the 928 once was, can't get the 'big" motor because that would make it faster than the 911. Porsche has always been about doing what works, whatever the configuration, as long as it fits the marketing plan.
As for Pano, the magazine is a reflection of the club membership. If we participate then that will be reflected in the magazine. Pete is not going to publish articles about cars that are never seen, it's just like the Secret of Life: Show up.

I'd love to know more

A friend was waiting for me to leave with him and emailed a pic of me in my car trying to leave a cars and coffee with many PCA members. These guys owned 911s and really dug my 928.
You are right we need to show up with them.

I think there are some really cool 928 stories here deserving for publication. The Holbert car would be a great one. How it was used to set a record in the salt flats and how it was later found in some auto tech school, with barely any miles on it.
Articles: Every month I tried to feature an article from the different local club/models. I got one 928 article in the last two years and nothing from the Boxster, 356 or 914 DFW clubs.
Tech Sessions: Articles are printed every month but its always about the 911 because a 911 owner writes them. Could we have a 928 article? Sure I just need someone to write one!
DE: This weekend was another DE, guess how many 928's were there?
Concours: I'm on the May at Mayo's planning committee. Guess how many 928's were there last year or the year before? Two and one was mine … both times!
Founders Day: We had over 200 people attend. Last year I had a special parking for the 928's and got them on the cover of Slipstream, the club mag. This year, guess how many showed up.
PCA says its about the people but if you don't show up, do you really have a right to complain?
Life is about showin' up … we'd love to see you!

Nothing more honest about personal responsibility and participation about "I don't like it when this group does...." was ever said better.
The Best Porsche Posts for Porsche Enthusiasts
I have always been a huge 911 fan and they have their black sheep issues as well. Although reading Shawn's article brought back memories of my 80 Euro I brought back in 85 with the same window issues and other quirks mine had but when it was a low mileage car. I wish I had saved the documentation on that car. it had a larger displacement engine from the factory and gobs of HP. It was an executive car that somehow should never have been sold on the open market but those days are long gone.
Although it may seem to many that the 928 is disrespected I always get a lot of attention when I take mine out to car shows or drives. I have been working on trying to get more local PCA members to bring theirs to events but it is like pulling teeth. Once I get them hooked though they come back for more. We now have almost a half dozen 928's show up at some concours events and I now have to work at taking first in class.
It is always nice to see Porsche's of all types at any event. We welcome them all openly. Not everyone might have the first hand knowledge about the model so they don't know enough to ask the right questions so they might appear negative towards it. Mostly I find that once you talk the same language or know something about the model the ice is broken and the friendships begin. It is a two way street and knowing something about other Porsche's will help the conversation as well.
An article like the one about Raj's car was so long overdue but it was worth the wait and really portrayed the car as it should be. I tried talking to numerous people to get his car in an article but had no luck I am glad someone finally made it happen. I was part of an article for the 944's in Excellence a number of years back. We shot it almost a year before it was finally published but eventually it made it. So if you have a special car or article I say submit it the worst they can do is say no but it is always nice to read about these cars especially the good and the bad from an owners perspective.
