I would sell mine if I had a better one readily available for purchase. It took me several years to "pull the trigger" and buy this one and I know I couldn't come close to getting my money out of it. I would love to trade up to a GTS but those are out of my price range.
What if you could never buy another 928, and both kidneys?

Simple. Sell both kidneys to the highest bidder in Florida. After all , a matching pair & provenance count for something eh? Then travel to a less well endowed country and find 1 or 2 cheap replacements. But there's always a risk with 2nd hand parts , even if you can get them to fit.
I'd sell everything in the garage and in the street but my wife's car to get a new z06. No questions asked.
I'm not a track driver, so I'd have to go with Hellcat.
Only lists for $5K more than my 928 did thirty years ago, and has twice the HP (+) and the Bilstiens
I could never sell my 86.5, which I have owned for almost 20 years. My best man drove me to my wedding in it, my kids grew up riding in the back of it, it sat neglected during their early years when I preferred to spend time with them instead of work on it, so basically, it's part of our family history, and will be passed down to my son at some point.
I can't say I would never sell my 928. Who knows what the future entails and I may at some point have no option but to sell it.
Right now though, I can't see wanting anything else. I have the color and style (S) that I like the most in a 928, plus it's a 5 speed. Sure it's not perfect and needs some work, but I'm OK with that. It fulfilled my dream of having an interesting, not so common, cool vintage car that I could drive on the weekends, take to car shows, wash, wax and put back into the garage, learn to work on and fix at my leisure. To top it off, it was/is my favorite car of all time. I really couldn't ask for more.
Plus, like others have said already. It's worth much much more to me than I think I could ever get for it. I have been asked a few times by guys if I would sell (no hard $ numbers given to me) and declined to even consider it. If I did, then where would I be?......Looking for another 928, I guess. So why not just keep the one I'm happy with?
I bought my first one an 87 S4 based on how much I liked the looks of it. I didn't know anything about them other wise. It was pretty well maintained, but like most needed a few deferred items taken care of.
When it was totaled, my wife told me how much she liked it, and that she wanted me to buy another, but it had to be "BLACK" also! Found the 89, and it's been a pain in some respects, but I like it better, for the options it has. I'll prolly keep it till I'm to old to drive, pass it on to my grandson.
I sold the "Polecat" once. Bought it back after the new owner blew it up, it'll be with us till we're gone too.
At the moment, I would, but only for a significant wad of cash ($50+k). I'd probably buy another though. Otherwise, it'll be in the garage until something major changes, like relocating to another country.
I currently work for a company with underground parking, where I can park my car in a bay without any other cars next to it.
If I move companies (or sites), they all seem to have outdoor parking (the sun is brutal), with cars on at least one side, which I wouldn't inflict on my car, especially as it has no rub-strips. At that point, we'd need a third car, but barely have garage space for two. I don't have the extra $1-2M required for a house with more garage space where I live, or space to build one.
Several have said 'maybe', or for the right price. I may fall into that category as well.
I didn't think I'd ever sell the GTS, and still may not (starting to appreciate in value, I think). But, since I've driven it less than 1K miles for each of the past 2 years and turning the pages of the calendar is catching up with me, it may be better off in someones garage/hands who will provide it with more exercise. Hard to find pristine cars that are 20 or more years old with no accident history and only two 'older' owners!!
