Where did the aerodynamics/front splitter thread go? I believe it started Monday evening. Yesterday afternoon it disappeared. I emailed the two administrators, but got no response.
It looked as if good information was being posted (at least on the first page). I didn't get to the other two pages of the thread.
Is it normal for threads to be removed or deleted without warning?
The thread kinda fell into some personal flaming unfortunately. I too was interested in the REAL discussion. I for one always appreciate the usefull and freely given information found here and whenever possible give my 2 cents worth here and on the email list. Egos should be checked at the door.
I just turned off the ability for folks to "delete" their posts, as it appears that if they "delete" their post as a thread starter - it wipes out the whole thread & all the replies! If you want to "delete" your post - simply go in and "edit" it by deleting all the text you wrote - but the thread itself and the replies will now stay "intact"...
John, I liked that option! It nice to be able to remove a post or a duplicate thread.
It was one of the many nice things about the new board!
Please reconsider adding it back in
If a topic get deluded with flaming or OT the people wanting to take part in the subject could cut and past their post to a new thread and completely remove themselves from the Flaming or OT communications.
Hang on a bit.... I'm writing something on my end that will let folks "delete" their own post - BUT, it will not delete the thread, even if they are the topic starter.... It's the same as "editing" your own post and deleting all the text, but if it works - it will take your post "out of the thread" entirely....
For that - if I get it to work - I may pop on later today and ask a couple of you to start a test thread in the "Feedback" forum - and see what happens....
It could be worse - I get the Flames for "deleting" topics and "censoring" all the Forums (which I have a REAL aversion to - check the OT for proof ) Wanna trade
I pulled it. I have the info saved, and may reinterate the actual info in another thread..., and not the dick measuring/"I can write really great barbs with no real physical threat to myself".
I liked the thread deletion by starter because if the thread is not what you expected it to be, I think the originator should have that power. Thats an opinion, and I admire John D.'s persevence no matter what.
Can one of you start a "Test" thread in the "feedback" Forum - and a few post in that thread. Next - whoever STARTS the thread - wait for a few posts - then delete your first post which started the thread....
Let's see what happens... Also - I'll post in it as well, once the TEST thread is started....
